This is, without question, one of the finest restaurants I've ever had the pleasure to eat in. The service was absolutely exceptional, all the staff we dealt with were friendly, polite, helpful, and very passionate. The food was just incredible. I can genuinely say this is one of the best meals I have ever eaten. We shared the bread and the Black Hummus for starter, which was beautiful. It was creamy and full of flavour, almost like a pate. For main my wife had Butternut Risotto, which was just divine. Rich and creamy and really tasty. I had the 200g Black Angus steak with mushrooms and skin on french fries. Hands down the best steak I've ever had (and I've eaten my share), and very reasonably priced. Beautifully cooked and seasoned, absolutely perfect. The mushrooms were cooked in butter and were delicious, a perfect accompaniment to the steak, and the skin on fries were lovely. For desert I had chocolate mousse so thick you could stand a spoon in it. Incredibly rich and decadent. We also had a few rounds of drinks and ended with Apple Spritz cocktails, and the whole bill came to under 90€. Without hyperbole, this is a world class restaurant.

The best meal, by far, in Funchal. The location is situated in a picturesque Mediterranean square. All that was missing was live music. The waitress was pleasant, very knowledgeable about the menu, and had some great recommendations for us. There are some fantastic gluten-free options, too, by the way. Onto the food. The dishes had interesting flavours. There were dishes we'd never had before like "Lebanese Eggplant", which was absolutely delicious. The peaches were a chargrilled delight. The fries were that extra glutinous treat you reward yourself with at the end. And all of these wonderful dishes were washed down with a pitcher of sparkling white sangria. What more could you want on a hot, summer's day in Funchal? The best meal we had. Period.

We visited Brasa and had a wonderful experience. We ordered chicken wings, beef tartare, and some fries. The chicken wings were excellent, slightly sweet but also nicely spicy, perfectly balanced in flavor. The beef tartare was also amazing , fresh and well-seasoned. The portion was a bit too big for me, but it was definitely worth it! The absolute highlight, though, were the fries, perfectly seasoned, crispy, and full of flavor. Honestly, they were the best fries I’ve ever had. For dessert, we shared a chocolate mousse, which was beautifully rich and chocolatey. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal. Everything was delicious, and I can definitely recommend this restaurant.

We recently visited La Brasa Restaurant in Madeira, and it was a truly enjoyable experience. The restaurant specializes in cooking meats and chicken in a wood-fired oven, giving the food a rich, smoky flavor that sets it apart from regular barbecue. The taste was exceptional—every bite carried that distinct, wood-infused aroma that’s hard to find elsewhere.

The staff was attentive, and the service was very good. We were particularly impressed with the chicken—it was absolutely superb and a highlight of the meal. For anyone who enjoys flavorful, well-cooked meats, this place is definitely worth a visit.

While the food and service were excellent, the atmosphere was a bit plain. Some areas, like the lighting and wall décor, could use a little sprucing up. That said, the quality of the food more than made up for the simple setting.

I wouldn’t give it a perfect five across the board, but I would certainly go back—especially for the chicken—and recommend it to others looking for great flavors and a unique...

We live in Funchal and have been to this place 3-4 times before leaving the review.

The food is inconsistent and bland. Although things are supposed to be cooked on the coal, it is CLEAR that this is not the case. The prices don’t add up, €9 for a bowl of hummus that doesn’t include anything to dip in it?! We also were charged extra €1 for mayonnaise when ordering chips, if it had been home made I guess would have been fine. Unbelievably it was home made, but with absolutely ZERO taste. My partner is a chef and confirmed this was made with no salt, no vinegar, no flavour. If you can imagine oily egg mixture with no seasoning.

Some of the staff are ok, the guy that works there is rude, curt and has no manners.

To top it all off we walked past one day with our 3yr old and asked to use the toilet as she was desperate to go, and they asked us to pay €1 for her to use the toilet.

I suggest you go next door to the Loja do Cha who are absolutely delightful, much better service and...
