Revolucion Cocktail Bar — Restaurant in Funchal

We found this place accidentally, and what a wonderful accident it was✨ First we noticed the impeccable mastery of cocktail making (by Telma, as we later got to know her). We really loved the atmosphere, and noticed that many customers seemed to be friends with the owners (and we thought they must have been customers for a long time). But after a couple of hours, we also became friends with Miguel, Telma and Franco!! Miguel even gave us a drink made out of Finnish salty liquorice ("salmari"), and over the next month, we kept adding to his Finnish "turkish pepper" supplies (we asked our friends who were coming to Madeira to bring us some). We visited this bar every weekend, and it was the highlight of our trip to Madeira. We especially loved their signature cocktail "Revolucion" (they told us it was the first cocktail they started with). When my mum visited and Telma heard she loves the Beatles, she made her a Beatles margarita (with some apple - my mum said it was the best margarita she has ever had) My personal favourite was also simply their poncha (pescador, of course) - they call it the worst in Madeira (as a statement to all the places who claim to have the best of Madeira), but I dare to disagree and say it's the absolute best of Madeira.

If you are looking for the best bar in Funchal, you found it! Seriously. Miguel and his wife craft the BEST cocktails. They and their staff CANNOT BE BEAT! My wife and I had the fortunate opportunity to come across Revoluvion on our final night in Funchal. We spoke about how we wished we had found it sooner!

Location: They are located in the “Clube Naval do Funchal.” When walking on the street, you may feel like you’re in the wrong place as we did, don’t worry! See photo for detail, but walk in and take the elevator down to “0”. You can also take the stairs down to the lower level if you prefer. They are RIGHT ON THE OCEAN! I mean right on. You will NOT get a better view from a bar in Funchal!

Parking: You may find a location on the street,likely rare, but there is also a parking garage just down the street at the round about.

Service: Blown away is an understatement! Miguel is one of the most hospitable individuals we have encountered. His wife and staff Dino were so friendly and kind.

Drinks: Extremely reasonable priced! Poncha is €3.50 and craft cocktails that go above and beyond are less than €10.

Recommendations: Do yourself a favor and go! You must check hours as they are closed on certain day and hours. Can guarantee you will Not be disappointed!

This might be the most welcoming, warm and amazing place in Funchal. Located on a small paved street in front of the blue Se hotel, this is a bar where time stops, for the best. Everything is wonderful here, the cocktails first, the poncha, the kindness, the sharing, and last but not least, the music selection. Want to find a place where do you feel at home ? Just go there, enjoy, rest and ease your mind. Go with the flow.

I would really love to thank Telma, one of the most talented cocktail maker I’ve ever met, with a smile that could melt the sun itself, and Miguel who’s taking care of the front, with his well placed puns and words that will make you want to stay the whole night on your chair and enjoy the moment.

I’ve been to that place pretty much everyday of the week and it always have been a delight.

Don’t change anything. I know you’re not planning to. I can’t wait to come back and spend time in your delightful company.
