I dont like to post bad reviews but felt the need for this place. Ordered food and drinks, mine a small beer. A large beer arrived. Ok I thought, maybe an oversight. My partners still water was from a reusable bottle and could have been tap water. My beer was flat, quite unusual for draught, and...seemed to have a higher water quantity than usual if you get my drift. I sent it back and refused the offer of a replacement. I'd stick to bottled in future. Food arrived. I ordered spicy prawns. They arrived.... just 5. The 3 large Chunks of lemon took up more space and n the plate. I had also ordered grilled chorizo. This arrived as a 3" long sausage on a crust of bread.no sauce, just a couple of slices of orange. A bit weird. Bearing in mind, that these dishes alone were over 15 euro, I'm thinking they rely on passing tourist trade that probably won't return. I...
Read moreWe’d just arrived in Madeira and were really looking for a fish platter. The place was quiet as it was 2pm. We ignored the menu and asked for mixed fish with grilled squid and some salad. We got a massive platter of various high quality fish which we almost couldn’t finish, with sides of salad, vegetables and garlic bread. The waiting staff were very friendly, accommodating and when I asked about local Madeira wines, recommended a medium dry as an aperitif, which made a very nice dessert wine. Total meal for two with mixed grilled fish and squid with vegetables and salad. Garlic bread. Two glasses of wine. One shandy. Bottle of sparkling water. One coffee. Total €60. They also have some other nice looking items on the menu, and a Portuguese tapas menu too for €20 each which we’ll probably go...
Read moreRip off restaurant. Special offer, 12.95€ for a three course meal offered by a guy at the street. The table outside we were seated by had ants all over, so we asked to be seated inside instead, which had zero view. First of all, service was OK but the food was nothing special. Ordered a tuna salad as a starter,(tuna from a can). Both main meals, sardines and the regional meat on a skewer was nothing to brag about. Worst of all, we were recommended a local good wine, not very expansive. Turned out the wine bottle was 18€ and they charged extra for bread. So the dinner was way more expensive than we expected. Can not recommend, Will not come back! I dont mind paying a premium for quality, but this was a...
