Very sad to say our last visit to Mamma Mia will indeed be our last. A few years ago it was lovely. This time the food was mediocre at best.

Our garlic bread was dry with barely a hint of garlic or butter (which is crazy as this is something pretty much every restaurant in Madeira does well).

My wife ordered Spaghetti Puttanesca and was given a Rigatoni dish, which didn’t even appear to have any anchovies in it. When we told the waitress she just shrugged politely, as if she knew it was an issue but couldn’t do anything about it.

My own pizza was thin and crisp but had no real flavour aside from the pepperoni slices scattered on top. I had to rearrange these just to make sure there was at least one or two on each slice.

To cap it all, the prices are far higher than you would expect. This restaurant used to be lovely with well presented, delicious dishes....

Excellent Italian restaurant. Very modern glass and steel building with modern minimalist look gives an expectation of good quality and it truly delivers. Fillet beef carpaccio started was delicious as was the pane Pizza formggio ordered by my better half (although in hindsight perhaps overly ambitious given what was to come..) For main I plumped for chicken risotto which was absolutely packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. My Lady had ordered her stick Italian lasagne which when it arrived was big enough for two (10" diameter). After the initial shock she set about it with gusto giving it two thumbs up. It was however too big to finish but the restaurant happily "boxed" the remaining half into a container. Lunch sorted for tomorrow. With a beer and a soda and tea to finish, total cost €54 - absolute bargain....

Took us 30 mins to get our drinks. Sangria was not Sangria. Served our main as we were still eating our starter and waitress was insistent on putting our mains in front of us. Pizza was soaked in oil and very stodgy. Dessert was style over substance and very disappointing. (Peanut panacotta was two thumb sized panacotta's with a bowl of peanuts). Waitress apologised everytime she came to our table for no reason. The waitresses in general looked miserable, were not polite or courteous & looked like they wanted to be anywhere else. Watched the staff turn away multiple people and the restaurant wasn't even half full. Really disappointed and did put a big downer on our evening. Would recommend Atlantic right beside it - amazing authentic food and...
