Category: Fine Food. This cool and lively place offers plenty of outdoor and inside seating on several levels of what struck me as several stacked stainless-steel outlined glass-fronted boxes (I liked the architecture). The outside floorsâ mosaic tiles, bar levelâs brick wall, wood-like tile floors upstairs, mottled-paint walls, dark wood tables, and well-placed travel posters give the place a clean but comfortable feel. The food is Spanish tapas. Generous portions but still tapas, and many different menu choices. The list also offered good wine choices by the bottle but limited choices by the copa. This was not a problem for us because we always order a bottle but if more copas had been offered we may have tried several different wines by the glass instead of buying a bottle of one thing. On the Sunday night we were there, live music filled the first floor inside, so the volume was perfect for us on the second floor. Unique feature: on each table was a device to call a server (see photos). Push the button and a server comes quickly. I have never seen this before, anywhere. I need to get one for my wife. đ The food we chose was all excellent (see photos). YouTubeâs...
Read moreNice ambiance. Quick service. Food did not impress compared to some other places in the island or if you are used to Spanish Tapas.
We ordered Sangria, Meat Tacos, Padron Peppers, Bravas Potatoes, Grilled Tuna.
Would definitely recommend the tuna. The meat tacos however should not be in the menu or be served as they are it brought the whole experience down. They literally taste like raw pizza, the meat itself is questionable.
The bravas potatoes didnât impress at all. Padron peppers and sangria would say standardly good. Sangria was served with lemon only and no ice.
Would recommend for the ambience, good for a date on the top outdoor sitting area. But for the food itself it needs some work on some of the dishes. We would have ordered more things to try but felt like some sort of gamble in terms of expectation from menu description versus actual dish on the table.
As an example If ordering the stuffed mushrooms beware they are stuffed only with mozzarella - id imagine a combination of something more elaborate from...
Read moreWe were at Hotel Girassol, just a little way up from the tapas restaurant. It was nice and handy the location. The food was excellent and very tasty. We had various items there as we went a few times. But the Batatas Alâoli, the garlic shrimps, garlic mushrooms and the Bolo de Caco (traditional garlic bread) were outstanding. The service was good, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The prices were really good as well. When we go back to Madeira, weâll definitely return to Tapas Y Copas; as long as itâs still open! Thank you for the lovely food and good service.
P.sâŚ.The ordering/bill device on the table is an excellent idea. More restaurants should have them. Itâs better than hearing patrons clicking/whistling etc to get the...
