FROZEN FOOD THAT CAUSED STOMACH PAIN. AVOID AT ALL COST. The only good thing about this place was the sushi. However, the rude (bald male waiter) made us donât even wanna come back ever again for the sushi. First of all, this place is lumping a Japanese restaurant and Italian restaurant together under the name âsushi barâ (they donât show the Italian restaurant name on the signage outside, so we walked in believing we were getting just Japanese food). Then, they served us a meal that caused me a stomach pain, because the broccoli was frozen, and a huge amount of cold water was coming out; the fish was utterly dry with extremely old texture (worst cod weâve ever had in all the countries weâve been to). We asked them to take the food back, because it was an unacceptable meal let alone paying for something that caused me stomach pain, which I decided to let go and not making an issue. HOWEVER, the bald male waiter had to come up to us and tell us how the dish had no problem because he tasted it and felt there was no problem and how he disagreed with us regarding the fish as if we were trying to get out of the bill of this dish. Even though letâs assume the fish has no problem, was it OK for them to serve customers frozen food that had cold water coming out? I donât understand whatâs the damn point of him coming up to us and telling us about his âdifferentâ opinion as if it was our fault being picky. It was just so offensive and rude! Itâs an embarrassment. Iâve been to many nice restaurants in Madeira that had much polite and nice service and quality food, unfortunately Sushimari is NOT one...
Read moreI want to give a good review because the service was on point and the restaurant is nice, albeit without that special japanese ambience. However, I have to be honest, this is not the place for decent sushi. I had one of the mixed sushi platters. The best I can say is, "it's food and it filled me up". I didn't even mind the inclusion of western(?) fried sushi but this seriously missed the mark. If I had known there were western dishes like pasta and steak with cheese on the menu, (and thai style springrolls with thai sauce) I definitely would've given it a miss. I've eaten sushi in many countries, including Japan - this is not on my list of restos...
Read moreA decent sushi place in Madeira. I am a big sushi fan and I have been to Japan and Dusseldorf many times for very good sushi for good prices too, so I can compare to what I am used to eat. These sushi's are decent (I would just change the rice and make it less squeezed or pressed, it is nice to see the big grain of rice ) and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere.Price wise I found that was a bit expensive for just the Maki, but the special rolls are fine. The staff is friendly and will assist you quickly, there was not much waiting time. Recommend if you are looking for a nice sushi dine...
