My friends and I came here during our day trip through the city, and it was the star of the day. From the beginning of the meal to end, the seemingly endless white and red Porto wines, selected from the region, were amazing. The plate of the day was fresh and exciting prawns with a wonderful and savory rice dish. Their pork cheeks and mashed potatoes were tender and smooth. The octopus was the real shocker. It featured such a well executed sauce and the care taken into cooking such and interesting seafood was clearly felt. We also had their carrot cake , covered in chocolate which was one of my favorite desserts I've ever had. Then to end we had some extremely smooth espresso com gelato to help us in the hot day. Read moreWe visited Casa Amarela on Saturday 24th Feb, as a walk-in table for four. Whilst it was quiet when we first arrived, the restaurant quickly filled up and had a wonderful atmosphere. Having previously eaten here in May 2023, we had high hopes, and we were not disappointed! The service was great and the food was even better...even if we did slightly over-order! We each had a starter, main and dessert, and basically rolled back to our hotel! Warning: The portions are huge! My partner and her mother both opted to have the regional wine tasting (2x wines to try), and were both very happy with their choice...trying a red, white and vinho verde between them. Overall, a great place to dine! As we will be back in the area in May (for our wedding), we will 100% be returning...alongside as many of our guests as we can...
Read moreOverall - excellent service, astounding food, lovely atmosphere and staff. The menu is in Portuguese and English, and I would personally recommend the pork cheeks in a red wine reduction. If I could give 6 stars, this restaurant would get it.
Service excellent - fast, but still allow you time to choose and relax Starters and appetisers - bread was served with olives and feta, great combo, codfish croquettes melted in your mouth. Mains - had grilled salmon, which was cooked perfectly, and the pork cheeks, which were sublimely tender, and had a mash and vegetables that were a lovely compliment to the pork. Dessert - chocolate mousse rich with flavour, traditional Portuguese tart with squash and almond was very nice, pineapple mousse extremely light, and a great...
