Rei das praias — Restaurant in Lagoa

I went to Rei das praias today for lunch with my mum and dad and my sister mollie I really enjoyed my lunch today I think my mum dad and my sister mollie enjoyed their lunch as well It was also lovely you had music on It had one of the songs on that I know I notice you had sabrina carpenter including espresso and please please please which is one of my favourite uk songs from spotify It sounding like a playlist because there were different types of songs that came on some was remixes of the actual version of the proper song I actually knew some of the songs I know kiss me more by Dojo cat and kiss my uh oh by Anne marie It's lovely to have music on in a restarant it brings good vibes The best part of going to this restarant today with my family because I could get a lovely view of the boats on the sea moving across the sea and see the speed boats rushing along the sea This restarant gets it's first 5 star rating for amazing and lovely staff lovely view of the sea wonderful music for a summer holiday very lovely food The staff that work there are very kind and very lovely The service is amazing Lovely music Lovely staff Lovely sea view of the boats I had a very lovely experience at this restarant today 5 stars all around This is one of the world's best restarants I have been to so far on my holiday in Portugal so far I glad I chose this one today not because of lovely view of the sea and boats because also it's one that has music on so you can hear it The music is clear enough to hear It has lovely food This restarant with the lovely sea view is for sure deserves a 5 star review from me It for sure deserves a very lovely good review Anyway have a lovely rest of your day Sorry about the long review I just had a few nice things to say about the restarant Enjoy reading my first...

We come to this beach often and we eat here often. On more than one occasion we have been treated like the typical outcast tourist but today was so obvious that I feel we need to share our experience. We went to the bar to order some drinks, we stood on the side of the bar as heat of the sun was a bit intense, only to be demanded by one of the waiters behind the bar to stand on the other side to order drinks. We then moved to the front side only for the gentleman that stood infront of us to move to the exact same spot as us before and to proceed to order drinks in Portuguese. When I passed a comment to state the process the waiter did to me two minutes prior the waiter replied ‘he is an employee and he has an account’.

Well I am still trying to figure out if this is good or bad. To make things worse the waiter and the ‘employee’ who was dressed in a swimming shorts with no top proceeded to speak about me and my husband in Portuguese thinking that we don’t understand. It’s really sad that ‘non locals’ get treated this way, even though we have been living here for years and coming to this restaurant, bar and beach for years.

We will no longer come here, nor would we recommend this restaurant to our friends or family. This is unacceptable! I get that we are not Portuguese, where I am from (South Africa) we have huge Portuguese communities, even to the point where one of my home countries are completely know for the Portuguese communities and businesses, but we will and have never treated anyone the way we have been...

We would love to give this restaurant 5 stars. When we sat down the very friendly staff put on our table Couvert (small bowls of olives, carrots, beet cream cheese) and bread in a bag and Queijo Curado (a small round of cheese) and said this is for us to start (seems totally complimentary) and do we want still or sparkling water which he also had in his hand (but didn’t mention that we could choose a small bottle. The large bottle is a lot of water for 2 people! ). Everything seemed so fine and we were happy. The food was delicious!-mushroom risotto for a vegetarian is as good as it gets. My husband ordered the steak and the waiter suggested medium-it came well done. He said it was fine with the pepper sauce on it. The waiter was interactive and friendly. The view and ambiance were top notch. But…when we got our bill they had charged us 6,40 for the Couvert and 3,80 for the Queijo and 4 euro for the large water. This isn’t something we ordered, they gave it to us! And then we’re charged for it?! On top of that, when we paid and they brought us our change, they shorted us a euro. All in all, we paid about 13 euro more than we should have been charged or that we expected. It is an expensive restaurant and we expected that being on the beach and all but we didn’t expect it to get charged for things we didn’t order. We felt it was quite deceptive. We had to go away with such mixed feelings. Great food, great staff, great ambiance. But they are not being honest...
