Taste Restaurante Carvoeiro — Restaurant in Lagoa

We visited here as a family as we had seen live music here when walking past and thought it looked like a lovely place for our final evening in Carvoeiro.

The service was friendly and attentive, and the staff were very apologetic when an early arrival meant we only had one menu to share (which was not a problem for us). At least one staff member is English, and all spoke English fluently so we didn't use as much Portuguese as we usually would in other restaurants here. We ordered the drinks special of a passionfruit martini - this took a while to come but was very tasty and clearly made fresh.

We tried the vegetable tempura, which we all enjoyed, and our two vegetarian members chose the gnocci for their main meal. The menu is quite limited unfortunately for vegetarians, but we found the staff ready to help as when our free mini starter came and had meat, they were more than happy to replace this with a vegetarian-friendly version (with a few jokes thrown in!)

The gnocci was good, with a tasty sauce and perfectly cooked vegetables. Getting our food did take quite a long time, but the place is very busy, so we understood this and were prepared to wait and just enjoy the atmosphere and live music outside.

We all absolutely loved the almond liquor provided at the end of our meal and it was the perfect way to end the final evening of our holiday.

Overall, we would highly recommend Taste for those looking for a relaxed evening meal with time to spare to enjoy...

We came here because of the good review and we were very hungry. Staff brought us to a table at the very back where atmosphere was very dull and the AC was right in front of our faces. We waited 30-40 minutes to order but none of the staff came so my partner got up to get one of the staff. We ordered for their soup, main and dessert deal. Then waited for 30 mins for the soup to arrive, the main came another 30 mins later. The dessert came awhile later. Food were okay, small portions, nothing impressive seasoning and the potato wedges with the lamb were hard and undercooked. The dessert was honestly surprisingly good. Then when we finally got the bill, everything looked right until we saw 4.50/4.80 (cant fully remember) for their agua which was insane. I ordered 2 bottles of coke which was a 200ml bottle. And my partner ordered a glass of white wine. We couldn’t even enjoy our drinks with our food because we finished them before our soup arrived… We only drank about half of the water bottle. Do not eat if gluten free.

Booked a table for 7:30pm outside. Arrived to be seated inside with broken AC (told not cleaned) Too hot to eat inside so we asked to wait to be seated outside as requested. They offered us drinks while we waited. Took a long time to arrive and all arrived separately, having asked for a couple of the drinks numerous times. Finally sat down on a table they created in a space which was available on our arrival - pushed by another table of 6 arriving at 8pm. No food arrived until 9:20pm by which time we had been at the restaurant for 2 hours. Despite asking for gluten free food options 3 times, the waiter seemed unsure as to what was and wasn’t. He checked with the chef, verified and came back to us. We happily ate the ‘gluten free’ options given to us. Less than 30 mins later I have reacted to gluten in a way that can only be eating actually gluten and not cross contamination. Very poor service, food and allergy requests not catered for despite their clear advertising of the opposite. Will...
