This was my first visit to Algar Seco, and I experienced it on a peaceful Saturday during the first days of the year. While it wasn’t too crowded, there was a steady stream of visitors enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
The sea was at low tide, which meant I may have missed the dramatic spectacle of waves crashing against the rock formations—something I imagine would be breathtaking during high tide. Nevertheless, the natural beauty of the place was undeniable.
I explored both sides of Algar Seco and found each had its charm. Although I had heard glowing feedback about the right side, I personally enjoyed the left side more. It offered more opportunities to explore and survey the unique rock formations, adding a sense of adventure to the experience.
I can’t help but imagine how much more magical this place would be on a summer evening, with the golden hues of a sunset reflecting off the cliffs and the sound of the ocean in the background. Even in winter, Algar Seco is a serene and captivating destination...

Read moreBeen here on numerous occasions over a 20 year period and it never changes (bar a bit more erosion). Beautiful place and the way the sea interacts with the cliffs is amazing. Some priceless views to be had with the added bonus of a superb restaurant sat in the middle without spoiling the ambiance at all and serving the best Chicken piri piri in the world in our opinion, cooked by chef Marcus. On a sunny day or even a dull blustery one a must see if you are in Carvoiero....oh yes and beware of the monster seagulls....they're after the Piri piri !!! In again today the chef has been there years and really knows his piri piri chicken..it is the best we have...
