Harrys Bar — Restaurant in Lagoa

Lots of confusion between reception and the restaurant regarding reservations. Arrived at the restaurant to be asked if we had made a reservation, we explained our experience regarding reservations. We were placed on a high wooden table and stools and advised once a more suitable seating area became available we would be moved. Lots of comings and goings and we remained at the most uncomfortable seating area, even though we expressed our views. Service was very slow. I asked for our table to be cleaned this never happened. I had to request cutlery. I had prawns which came with no hand wash. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands to discover there had been a leak so I was unable to wash my hands, which after peeling prawns wasn't the best. A very expensive bill for an extremely poor...

I have traveled extensively around the world and this was my first experience of feeling like an interloper. The service was just service, you sit, you order, your food arrives. The prices were fair, the food mediocre at best. The owners/staff were more interested in the football and sitting with their friends than any new customers. I suspect if you are a local expat and in their click it would be okay, as a tourist, in my experience not so much. Was going to have coffee and desert but went down the road where I had great service and a pleasant end...

A bar that I visited while we spent a few days in Carvoeiro. It has a bit of an 'English Boozer' type of feel to it which is fine, but for me that style is a bit jaded, perhaps old fashion. I think the place hasn't figured out what it wants to be. Maybe just selling booze to thirsty punters. The wee Scottish bar tender was excellent. Worth a visit. Slightly pricy...
