This is a gorgeous little beach town. This is the beach from where Carvoeiro Caves operates their Benagil Caves boat tours out of (see my photo of their Kiosk). There are decent FREE washrooms with showers close to the beach so you can rinse off the salt. Lots of shops, a music/ performance stage and plenty of nice restaurants nearby. There is free parking at the top of the hill to the east next to a place called Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Encarnação. The little cave at the west end of the beach is a really cool spot to wander over to.

The very good point about this beach is its step-free access and proximity to all the town restaurants, bars and ice cream parlours, which are mostly excellent. Carvoeiro town beach is pleasant enough, but a little small and permanently crowded in high season, almost until it gets dark (don't think you can go between 4 and 5pm for some space! It gets even more crowded at that time)! A rather large section of the beach is cordoned off for boats and pleasure paddle craft, which pushes the bathers into an even smaller area. However, many of the other beaches are of a similar size or smaller, and people are very friendly and tolerant, which makes up for the crowds.

I saw it during my boat trip from Portimao to Benagil caves, then I took a bus and went there (around 25 minutes from Portimao with bus). Such an amazing place , there is a footpath going on top of the caves and at few points you can also go in the caves. Spent around 2 hours walking on the footpath. View from the top are mind-blowing. It's a good place for everyone, couples, groups and families (just be more careful if you are traveling with kids).

Small but one of the hottest beaches in this region. Water is clear and warmer than on the west side of Portugal. You will find a parking place with no problem. There is a lifeguard on the beach and small section on the side for boats to pick up tourists on the trips. In the plaza near to the beach, you can find many places for meals or drinks. Prices are in the range between 5 - 15 EUR for a lunch so it's not so bad.

Very nice and quiet Resort. 4 swimming pools, tennis courts and a midget golf course. Has a Café, a Restaurant and a Supermarket. There are quite a few, popular, Restaurants in the vicinity. There is a great hiking trail along the Resort of about 6 km called the Percurso dos Sete Vales Suspensos. Along the trail you can find about 14 caves/sink holes of which the Benagil cave is the most popular.

Nica small beach, clean water, cold ( it's not yet Mediterranean see) nice walk around the cliffs around. Come early during high season if you want to find a parking and a good spot on the beach. Lots of shops and restaurants walking distance. Can also take a worthy boat tour for 1h in tha caves. 25€. It is small boats but they can go in every cave compare to the bigger one.
