Beautiful decor. Outdoor seating was gorgeous and the inside was adorable. Unfortunately, the service was amateurish.
After 20 minutes of waiting for my mocktail, I asked them to cancel it since I wanted it while I was waiting for my meal not with it. They finally brought it anyway and didn’t charge for it. That was fortunate because the glass was filled right up to the top with big ice cubes so there wasn’t much room for the liquid.
My companion’s surf and turf looked good but she seemed to have trouble cutting into the meat and ended up taking it home for her dog. She wrapped it in a napkin after the server told her there was a new law in Portugal, where they couldn’t let customers take food home??? Not sure what that was all about…
I ordered an appetizer of red prawns. which was around €20 and bread service for another five euros or so to go with my appetizer which I planned to have as my main since I wasn’t overly hungry. I asked the server to bring it together, but the bread showed up first— nice and warm, but by the time I got my food, the bread was cool. There were only three prawns and very little meat in them—pretty bland. Very poor value.
My companion had wanted to treat me and I didn’t want her to be uncomfortable, so I really wasn’t in a position to complain at the time.
There are so many other really good restaurants in Lagos and near the Tivoli with much better service and value for the money.
I had a glass of red wine in the lounge afterward, and it was not good at all. How can you serve a bad house wine in Portugal! I left half of it behind, and the table beside us left a fair bit in their glass when they left as well.
Disappointing evening as far as food and drink go, but the music in the...

It's one of the restaurants of the Tivoli Lagos Hotel and it's a gem. We stayed at the hotel and went for dinner here twice, the food was fantastic on both occasions.
The first time, I had the Gaspacho to start, then the Lombinhos de Porco Preto. I asked to have it with rice instead of chips and Tomé was happy to oblige. Both were delicious.
The service throughout the evening was attentive, personable and quick. We felt looked after, so we decided to go again. The same goes for our second visit, when we were expertly served by Vítor.
We had a full couvert with cured meats, olives, bread, olive oil and homemade butter, lovely. I had the Gambas to start, which had been shelled, but still had the heads on - a lovely detail which makes the prawns easy to eat, retains flavour and looks fantastic. For the main, I shared the Tomahawk steak which I had with chips and ratatouille. We asked for it blue and wow! A lovely cut of meat, well season and juicy. For dessert I had Port, I did find the selection a little limited but I wasn't fazed, it did not detract from the experience and the house Messias is a lovely Tawny. We also had the Duas Quintas Tinto with both our meals.
Apart from the food, which was excellent - what really stood out was the attention to detail, and care that went in to our service on both occasions. Both Vítor and Tomé are professionals who clearly take pride in their work, they both made the experience something worth sharing.
I would highly recommend visiting...
Read moreThis restaurant is spectacular!!! 10 stars! I am normally suspicious of dining at hotels because even the best hotels have restaurants that can be kind of mediocre, but this was out of this world. With a beautiful outdoor area and a nice indoor dining option, it is perfect for a solo diner (me), a romantic date or anniversary, or a group. You have a choice for the Couvert of the “basic” (selection of breads, butters, olive oil) or the complete that includes “carrots” (a playful take on carrots bursting with flavor) and sausage balls. Definitely go for the full option …both the carrots and sausage balls were outstanding. The breads are wonderful, and the butters had three different flavors… Saffron, anchovy, and I think cilantro? All of them were delicious to go with the breads, and the olive oil was local, that incredibly robust. You can see the beautiful presentation in the photos. And if you like octopus, don’t think twice, and go ahead and order it for your main dish. It was exquisite (I have eaten a lot of octopus at many great restaurants). I ate more than I planned to so I had no room for dessert, but if I came back here again, I would order the exact same thing. I’m sure everything else is delicious, but I can’t imagine anything being better than this. Even more, the service was the best. Thanks to Victor and Leticia, I was well taken care of the...
