Read my other Google reviews... I am VERY fair, and I am about to be fair again.
This was a new low level of poor customer-service. Worse than being poor service, the proprietor/waiter was condescending. This is a pizza restaurant, it may be a good one (who knows), but it is not a fine dining establishment with a sommelier that does wine pairing.
Why do I say this, you ask? Because when I asked a radical question as to whether they had Portuguese wine (I could only see expensive (but 🤢) Italian wine on the menu) and we are in Portugal and I don't want to be face-ripped into buying some 'cheap' (but expensive) Italian off their laminated menu; I got the first condescending response. A superior, oh so superior, 'we only sell Italian wine'. Fair enough (maybe), but the manner that info was shared with a blown up chest, and the tone used, was really patronising. Then, after a short pause in which I said nothing (shock?), round 2 of condescension started with 'Italian restaurants only sell Italian wine'. Clearly this isn't true (we then went to an Italian less than 100m away and had Portuguese wine), but it was the desire of the waiter/owner/random to double down on his rudeness that really set this restaurant apart. Basically I had asked for a Portuguese red in Portugal... sacrilege in this particular pizza restaurant (NB this is not a fine dining establishment, it is a pizza restaurant). It was clearly an unacceptable request.
The rude/arrogant waiter/owner and I then came to a mutual agreement that my request was not acceptable (I think I was actually thrown out before I could decide to walk out, if honest) and my teenage son and I left.
My 17yr old son (very embarrassed) and I then left. It was surreal. I'll try not to take the moral high ground here as I am criticising the owner for doing exactly that, but this place sells Pizza in Portugal; let's not get so up ourselves that we condescend/patronise our clientele who ask for local wine rather than expensive imported rubbish. The pizza will never know what country's vino is accompanying it after each mouthful.
The pizzas may be amazing, and I'll not say otherwise as I know no better; but the owner isn't!
I am Angry.
What an awful attitude
Good luck to the waiter/owner when the real season starts, my friend! Less attitude would be a start. Throwing out a 57yr old and his 17yr old son does not bode well for when the football and stag...
Read moreOverall: Highly recommend this spot for a relaxed and flavorful lunch. Great food, great vibe, and an easy place to enjoy a slow afternoon.
Food: The meal was absolutely delicious. We had the Caprese 3 Colors salad and the Alberobello pizza on focaccia bread. The salad was fresh, and the side of green olives added a nice touch that complemented the flavors perfectly. The focaccia bread was soft and airy, and the red sauce was bursting with flavor—simple ingredients done really well.
Service: Service was good—friendly and efficient without feeling rushed. The staff seemed genuinely attentive and made sure everything came out just right.
Atmosphere: A nice spot tucked away on a quiet back street in Lagos. The relaxed vibe, paired with a great mix of ’70s and ’80s music, made for a perfect...
Read moreOverall: Burrata on a perfectly-cooked Italian-style pizza? Yes please!
The good: Some of the best pizza we've had in awhile. The Italian-style crust was perfectly cooked (in a proper pizza oven) and the pizza was topped with a perfect pairing of sauce, cheese, pistachio, pesto, prosciutto, and BURRATA (a first for us, which was much appreciated). Lots of pizzas to choose from (it was hard to narrow to one), as well as focaccia, puccia, wines, and more. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Free WiFi
The not-so-good: Long waits and limited seating, but you're able to put in your name/number and they will call.
Food/drink: 9/10 Atmosphere:...
