This may have been affected by the fact that when we visited it seemed like they were out of half of the menu. Including coffee... so...
It was pretty common Tex-Mex food, not Mexican unless youve never been to Mexico. You know burritos, nachos, tacos, chimichangas. Exactly what you would expect from any regular tex-mex/""Mexican"" place anywhere in the world outside Mexico.
I can't comment on the food I would have tried but couldn't because they didn't have it that day. The "taco salad" was a nacho plate with added iceberg lettuce. It was tasty enough, and lots of fresh ingredients, but it was not spectacular. I think most people coming to a place like this would be just fine with it. Chicken wings were "XXX" spicy. Again, maybe Europeans who aren't accustomed to heat would think that (ahem British tourists) they're very spicy. But they aren't truly XXX if you're more familiar with spice. They're hot, yes. But not numbingly so.
I was loving the fact that FINALLY there is a place here that uses the wonderful cactus as food! Nopales were one of my fav taco ingredients in Mexico and was super excited to see them here. Kudos to that. (It was overwhelmed by all the other ingredients sadly.) Also, they have decent tortilla chips and guacamole. No complaints, just not the best I've had.
Prices seem pretty steep, but that's Lagos. Service was good. Place was fairly empty (and it's a very large space) for lunchtime which was surprising.
I'd like to return to try the...
Read moreIf I was just reviewing tonight’s menu I’d give a three at best but we have had many great meals here so don’t want to be too harsh - every restaurant can have an off night and tonight was that night.
We have always preferred Beats and Burritos and weren’t impressed with Green Room at the old location - definitely changed our minds the first time we ate at new location and really felt like they stepped it up food wise.
Tonight though, service and food was meh - no one seemed to really care much about making diners happy and I’ve waited my share of tables. As far as food, we ordered Chili Verde which has been one of our favorites in the past. Tonight it was soupy, not particularly tender and there were no beans, pico, jalapeños or tortillas. These items are on the menu but I was told by the person at the register that the dish does not come with these items??? I’ll admit we’ve had to almost beg for tortillas with this dish in the past but all else was there. Not sure why bringing a couple of tortillas should be such a challenge by the way - you have tacos, you have burritos - you obviously have tortillas available and the dish screams for them.
I’m sure we will be back but if no improvement next time I guess we just wait for Beats to open back...
Read moreWe had dinner at The Green Room and were genuinely impressed by the quality of the food. The fajitas for two were outstanding, beautifully seasoned, generous in portion, and easily the highlight of the evening. I’d strongly recommend that dish to anyone visiting.
However, the overall experience was a mixed bag. The music started off with a pleasant Brazilian vibe, but gradually shifted into very loud deep house. It quickly became overwhelming and made conversation difficult, especially as the evening progressed.
The restaurant was clearly understaffed. Our beers (2nd drink order) were served only after we had already finished our main course, which detracted from the dining experience. The staff were doing their best under pressure, but the delays were noticeable.
The venue was packed, which shows how popular the place is but it also meant a noisy environment and longer waiting times. If you value food above all else, it’s worth the visit. If you’re looking for a more relaxed, well-paced evening with attentive service and a pleasant ambiance, this might not be your...
