Vaca Galo - Petiscos, Sandes e Refeições — Restaurant in Lagos

The restaurant is well located and you can eat relaxed. It seemed clean and I was served quite quickly - but may also be due to the fact that the restaurant was empty (2pm Thursday). The service was friendly but insecure and not particularly cheerful. The menu was clear, with plenty of choice.

I was slightly disappointed that the cheeseburger, for the price of 8.50, came without a side like fries. Unfortunately, the burger was not strong or convincing on its own. Appearance was OK, smell was ok, but the taste was boring. The brioche bread was probably a bit older, as it was very dry, and the meat tasted of almost nothing - no hint of salt, pepper or roasted flavors. However, it seemed like the patty was homemade and not bought in. The sauces on the burger were also rather subtle, adding more acidity with tomato and pickled pickles. We happened upon this place a few minutes after getting off the bus after our 4 hour trip from Lisbon! We were hungry and achy from sitting so long in our cramped seats. We were quickly seated and served by a very pleasant staff member. We each had a Beyond Meat burger with caramelized onions and cheddar. The burger was delicious and nicely cooked at medium rare. The brioche bun held together really well so it could be used to eat the whole juicy burger. The grilled chicken sandwich was also good. Cheddar cheese, aioli and a pickle added nice flavor on top of seasoning on the chicken itself. We shared an order of wedge fries.
