Koala in Leiria is a beautifully designed space, filled with greenery and natural textures that make it feel warm and inviting. One thing that stood out immediately was the ordering system—you scan a QR code for the menu and can call a waiter with a button on your phone. It’s a small but brilliant touch that I wish more places would adopt.
I had the salmon Benedict (I think it was listed under a different name), and it was well-executed and flavorful. For dessert, I went with a warm cinnamon roll drizzled with icing—something I don’t come across often in Portugal but grew up eating in the U.S. This one was good enough that I had to send a picture to my mom, who is known for making some of the best cinnamon rolls around.
Overall, a great experience—thoughtful design, smart tech integration, and solid food. Definitely a place...

I ordered eggs Benedict which I have never had in Portugal before. The eggs were nicely done, however the English muffin was cold and not toasted. If there is a rule for English muffins - they are never ever eaten untoasted. The eggs and sauce were also quite cold. There was absolutely no salt added whatsoever which is a shame because everything ends up tasting so bland. This is a restaurant trend that I can’t understand.
The pistachio pancake was nice, very sweet, it’s really a dessert. I can’t really imagine having it as a meal.
The prices were good, I will definitely be back to try some...
Read moreGreat brunch experience. Prices of all kind. Personally (this will be a plus for others), too many menus with fruit/exotic fruits - but has a good enough selection of other breakfast types (i.e English bowl/breakfast).
Good selection on natural drinks (lactose free choices / almond milk )
Excellent service and staff.
Cozy and inviting atmosphere.
Can be a bit tricky to find a parking spot if you're driving there - and being at a top of a street with somewhat steep inclination, can also lead to accessibility issues ( inside the restaurant its fine - just the getting there can be tricky with reduced mobility )
Overall - a...
