Restaurante DeXcobre — Restaurant in Leiria

We just returned from dinner at DeXcobre - what a fantastic restaurante! Beautiful, welcoming space, wonderful service, and just simply incredible food.

Everything was just spot on, from the homemade breads and gravlax amuse, to the entrada of scallop and bacon espetadas, the gorgeous borrega and camarão mains, and finished with the raspberry sorbet and medronho sobremesa.

As we live right around the corner, we were so happy to see another restaurante move into that space of the former Taberna Mau Feitio...while we were very sad at that restaurante's closing, the space was just set up too well for another restaurante not to be there. We could not be more thrilled by DeXcobre's presence, and could not recommend it more highly to any and all in Leiria and beyond.

A "fine dining" experience without fine dining prices.

The restaurant was immaculate. The service was exceptional, and the menu was varied with many options for meals, including a wide price range. The food was exquisite.

The chef came out to speak with us and took the time to describe his dishes.

The mushroom soup was the best I have ever tasted... and I've tasted many.

We were a party of five, including four adults and one child. We had bread and herbed butter for five, four appetizers, five entrees, six alcoholic beverages, and one soft drink.

The total cost of the meal was a 112€, a bargain by any standard. When I am back in Leiria, I will make a point of returning to Restaurante DeXcobre.

Food was Excellent! Service was great. We talked with the owner for quite a while and he made us feel so welcome. We will continue to return over and over!

I want to follow up and say that during my trip to Leiria, I found myself eating at DeXcobre at least once a week. Dinner and Lunch are excellent. I have not repeated anything on the menu because I have wanted to try as much as I could. The service and the welcoming atmosphere, especially from chef Xavier, are above and beyond! I am sad to be leaving Portugal, but will always remember my favorite...
