I recently had the pleasure of dining at Faz Frio in Lisbon, and I can confidently say that it was an extraordinary experience from beginning to end. Situated in the heart of this vibrant city, Faz Frio offers a culinary haven that leaves a lasting impression.
Stepping into the restaurant, I was immediately enchanted by the welcoming ambiance, an intimate and comfortable atmosphere, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening.
Now, let's delve into the culinary delights of Faz Frio. The restaurant takes traditional Portuguese cuisine to new heights with a creative and flavorful twist. The menu features a carefully curated selection of dishes that celebrate the finest local and seasonal ingredients.
To begin, I indulged in the "Brás de Cogumelos e Trufa" (Mushroom and Truffle Brás). It was a revelation for the taste buds. The combination of flavors was sublime, creating a dish that was both indulgent and comforting.
For the main course, I chose the "Corvina, Alcaparras e Puré de Aipo" (Sea Bass, Capers, and Celeriac Purée). The dish arrived beautifully presented!
To accompany my meal, the owner suggested a local Portuguese wine that effortlessly enhanced the flavors of each dish.
The service at Faz Frio deserves special praise. The staff members and the owner were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their craft. They took the time to guide me through each dish, providing insightful descriptions and personalized recommendations. Their warmth and professionalism elevated the dining experience to new heights.
And now, the dessert that stole the show - the "Mousse de Chocolate" (Chocolate Mousse). It was a heavenly creation that culminated my dining experience on a high note. The velvety smooth chocolate mousse melted in my mouth and was the perfect ending to a truly exceptional meal.
In conclusion, Faz Frio in Lisbon is a culinary revelation that should be at the top of every food lover's list. From the innovative and flavorful dishes to the inviting ambiance and impeccable service, every aspect of the dining experience is simply exceptional. Whether you're a local or a visitor, Faz Frio will take you on an unforgettable journey through Portuguese gastronomy. It is a true testament to the art of fine dining and deserves the...

Preface: this is not an alcohol tinged review. I only say that because it’s hard to “know your reviewer,” especially when they start with “after searching…,” or “we were starving when…”
We had passed by this busy spot twice during our walkabouts, and looked at diners’ tables to get a sense of the food. Everything was delicious and fresh tasting. Between us we had the the Portuguese version of steak and eggs with fries, called bitoque con molho, (tender, marinated beef and a beautiful orange-yellow yolked egg); the bread, olives & lupine with coriander “hummus” (coriander is now joining my savory cooking spices😋); the cold carrot, ginger, almond [dairy free] soup (delicious and refreshing); the octopus salad (a cerviche style dish); and the whole, large, shell-on cerviche shrimp—that were amazingly tender for their size (you need to be prepared to get your hands dirty to twist off the heads and crack open the shells).
Husband drank Super Bock, I had sparkling water, and we each had one digestive after the meal. Price was ~82€.
Food was served in stages, as it was ready from the kitchen. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
Definitely recommend this place. Gets busy, but we lucked out for an outdoor table around 8pm. A bunch of folks arrived & waiting for tables after us (and meals are savored rather than rushed), but seemed to be enjoying cocktails from the bar as they waited on the sidewalk. Inside was also crowded (note: bathrooms are down some steps). Reservations...
Read moreHonestly one of the most disappointing and expensive meals I had during my time in Lisbon. My sister and I were recommended Faz Frio and were excited to go, especially after walking by a number of times and seeing a crowd of people waiting. We waited about 20 minutes before being seated. The ambience was nice, although loud, and the bartender was cute, but our server was a little unfriendly.
Wanting a taste of Portuguese cuisine, we ordered the cod cakes (1 per person), shrimp, clams, and a seasonal salad. We were also encouraged to buy a bottle of wine to share. The cod cakes came out quickly (almost TOO quickly, if you know what I’m getting at). They looked like they should be good, but after taking a bite it was clear they had been sitting out for quite some time. They were cold and I found a fish bone after only 1 or 2 bites. The shrimp also weren’t that good. The red sauce had a weird texture, and the shrimp were a little overcooked. The clams had too much oil and were sandy… it felt like both the shrimp and the clams weren’t cleaned properly. The salad and wine were fine but neither was a standout, the salad too tart to finish.
We unfortunately didn’t finish any of the food we ordered, and I don’t think this was an accurate or good representation of Portuguese food. We left feeling extremely disappointed about our meal and experience, especially for the price, and not hungry enough to go somewhere else. I would recommend someone explore the other very good restaurants nearby and...
