Very disappointed by the food and definitely didn’t appreciate the fact that the menu for tourists has increased prices. We entered and I tried to speak in Portuguese and was handed a menu in local language. As soon as they heard us talking in English, they came with a different Menu. I immediately noticed the higher prices and I asked to have back the original one. A guy came back trying to make up some sort of excuses saying that that menu is for dinner only but we just wanted to eat so we didn’t even go any further with that. They tried to charge the prices shown on the scam menu but it didn’t work out with us as we complained. Anyways, the francesinha was just average, nothing special. Not impressed at all and definitely not worth the long journey to reach this spot ———————————
-Response to the management Dear Josè, no need to get upset on my words and really don’t see any rudeness in them, I’ve just explained what happened. Definitely no intentions to offend anyone saying “a guy”, actually your staff members (a smily and bubbly young woman and a friendly and polite young man at the time of our visit) were both nice to us. About the menus, so if you don’t have different prices why are they different only on the translated ones and not on the foreign language? Also, if that was the case, why this difference between launch and dinner has been explained only after we mentioned about prices and not as soon as handed? Also, why have we been charged for the dinner prices instead? I had to point on it at the till to get it amended. From a customer perspective that is not nice. The service was friendly tho. Thanks for your sincere wishes, I am definitely enjoying your city which is amazing and full of tasty places to try. Maybe worth for you to spend a few minutes with your staff and remind to explain customers about launch and dinner before any misunderstandings happen again. Wish you a lovely evening. Just a...
Read moreWhile staying at the Holiday Inn Continental in Lisbon, we didn’t want to venture too far for dinner. A quick Google search led us to Lucimar, and what a hidden gem it turned out to be! We thought it would be a 20-minute walk, but it was only 12 — though we ended up Ubering over. Either way, the experience was absolutely worth it.
We ordered the Lucimar-style steak topped with eggs and fries, and the Lucimar-style codfish. Both dishes were beautifully presented, and you could tell they were made with fresh, high-quality ingredients.
The steak was juicy and tender, lightly grilled with just the right amount of seasoning and sauce, perfectly paired with a sunny-side-up egg and crispy fries. The codfish came atop a generous bed of roasted baby potatoes, sautéed spinach, and carrots — all flavorful and well-balanced.
The fish was slightly undercooked for our taste, but when we mentioned it to the manager, he was incredibly gracious. He took it back without hesitation and re-prepared it exactly how we liked it — adding more vegetables and potatoes, all with a big, welcoming smile.
After dinner, the manager recommended we try the natas pie and promised to switch it out if we didn’t like it — but we loved it! We also tried their chocolate mousse, which was decadently rich and absolutely delicious.
We’ve been in Lisbon for over four days and have tried several highly rated restaurants in the Baixa area, many recommended by YouTubers and food bloggers — but nothing compares to Lucimar. This has been the best dining experience we’ve had since arriving in Lisbon. We’re even planning to come back again after our trip to Porto!
As Americans who’ve tried it all — from California to New York — we highly recommend Lucimar. The food, service, and hospitality are exceptional. We even tipped 10% (not required in Portugal) simply because they earned it. A truly memorable meal — can’t...
Read moreWalked 25min from our hotel to try this place out thanks to the reviews, and we weren't disappointed. We got lucky that we arrived at 18:30 and they were able to seat us at a table already reserved for 20:00 as long as we promised to finish in time. We tried bacalhau a bras, carapaus asados and dourada a lagareiro. Our waitress spoke great English, was very kind, and helpfully described the dishes and gave us recommendations. All three dishes were excellent, so we decided to try the chocolate mousse (ok) and the tarta de nata (very good) for dessert too. It was a relief to get some salad or veggies with each dish after many veggie-free meals thus far in Portugal. Given the police who stopped in for takeout and the ambulance crew who were very disappointed to be called away while they were waiting to be served, it seems this restaurant is a restaurant well loved by many locals. I wouldn't hesitate to return again.
ETA we did indeed make a reservation to return again to be guaranteed a great last meal in Portugal. Tried the grilled cuttlefish which was fabulous, the ribs with cilantro sauce, and creamy cod. Sadly, no grilled cod was available. Creamy cod was finely chopped potatoes and flaked cod baked in a cream sauce. I would have loved a side salad, but the portion was huge, tasty, and very filling. The grilled cuttlefish was excellent, and came with veggies and smashed potatoes. The ribs were great with a delicious sauce and were served with what I think was a bread and cilantro pudding. Would have loved some veg and less pudding, but it was all well prepared. The sauce on the ribs was amazing. Once again, an excellent meal, and I can only...
