I am not a fan of bullfighting as it involves animal cruelty but the culture is deeply rooted in this region so I went to learn more about it. In this museum, you will find out the differences between the methods they perform in Portugal and Spain. It is more humane in Portugal and they don't kill the bulls during the game, unlike Spanish matadors. The bulls are returned to the farmers after the game. The entrance is 3 euros and includes a guide as well. The guide was very friendly, helpful and she could speak many languages. The museum itself covers the costumes, announcements in newspapers, and posters, and also paintings of famous Portuguese and Spanish bullfighters. There are as well a sample of arrows, sword, and horn cover of the bulls in the display. They also provide videos and photos in the interactive part of the museum to explain the difference between Portuguese and Spanish bullfighting traditions. In a tiny section, there is information about the way of breeding and the environments where the bulls live before the fight. Finally, at the end of the visit, you can take a look at the place where the bullfighting takes place...

An old bull fighting ring that now is mostly converted to a concert/event venue. It seems that in order to make it more profitable for the city hall as well as promoters, they added more seating baby building more sitting on top of the original. This creates a veritable fire trap as there are no walkways to get from the seats to the exits. You'd literally have to either wait for the other 200 people in front of you to exit or maybe just jump down to the lower levels. It's inadmissible that a venue owned by the city, purposefully runs over safety for what I can only...

The place is just amazing, if you ever wanted to experience chivelry and be a knight for a day, well that's the right place. It even gets better, the food is delight. Would recommend the cow cheeks (as it was written in the menu). The only down side of it were some TVs in the dinning area.
