Marquês de Palma — Restaurant in Lisbon

DO NOT GO. Food is only ok and service is terrible. The end room was vibrant and yet they wanted to seat me at the front in the empty part of the restaurant. Without giving me much time to respond they asked all at once if wanted bread, cheese, pate. I said yes to bread yet they brought everything as 3 separate dishes so had to send some back since I knew cost would be ridiculous! Cheese was more than 4€... Seeing now in the bill the pate was €8.5 and pretty terrible Note the dips and the cheese came wrapped in clingfilm 🤨

The main arrived and they wanted to take away the left over bread and pate. I had stopped eating for a moment and they took away my dish! To immediately come and offer dessert and coffee... Ermmmmm sure no! The portions are generous but the rice for example was waaay too hot suggesting it had probably just been heated up.

I would NOT recommend the octopus or this restaurant. Plenty of other choices in Lisbon to have nice fresh fish for €12

Americans (not native or visiting) beware …. They bring you the cheese, prosciutto and bread without telling you that they will charge you for it. It’s fine if you like it (which I do) but in case others don’t.

In reviewing the bill, also noticed they had an extra charge for something I didn’t receive but it was only $4 so I just deducted from the gratuity that I would have given.

The women that spoke some English was amazing. She recommended a great wine that was not even the most expensive but tasted amazing.

Im not impressed by this place. If it was not for that I live nearby, I wouldn’t have walked into the restaurant in the first place. I agree with a few other comments here, that they put 3 kinds of charged appetizers after getting you seated, without asking for your permission to do so. But we paid for it without complaining anyway. Even though we did not touch the stale-looking cheese appetizer at all. Steak and seafood rice are not much of to be remembered. You’d forget about those taste after 1 night. We ended up paying €80 for a only average meal serving 2 persons, outside central Lisbon. How could I say this is a fair place to go ?
