I recently stayed at the Lisbon Marriott yet again. I had my concerns as even in the past I've had an unpleasant experience. This time around we had three rooms booked two were on double occupancy and one was a single. They were all booked online through the Bonvoy app. On arrival which was close to midnight exhausted and tired. We had to go through a painstaking and lengthy check in procedure which involved the entering of each person's identity documents and bio, which understandably is a mandatory requirement. Albeit the person checking us in was very amicable and polite and this made it palatable. Generally the staff at the hotel are very polite and helpful, housekeeping and the restaurant had wonderful people. However on the last day I had an unpleasant experience that has left every good opinion about this property in absolute shambles.||On the last day I went to the front desk at around 9 am and mentioned that I would need a confirmation of stay letter for all the occupants prior to my departure. I showed them a sample of what they gave me last year and the lady smilingly said not a problem it will be done. I checked out of the 2 rooms and kept my own room until 4pm as I was a Marriott ambassador and said when I leave I would collect this with my final invoices. All room were connected to my bill and cards. After lunch we returned to check out and get these letters. The same lady was on her counter, but was occupied with another guest so I waited, she then walked off and passed the guest with her to another gentleman and dissappeared. So I moved to the next available counter another lady was there... She started with me and then said my computer is hanging and so I can't help you and told me to go to the next desk and she also dissappeared from sight. So I waited till this person got free and I approached him. Little did I know that this person would be the most rude and incompetent employee that I have ever met. Firstly he did not follow any Marriott protocols, he did not thank me for my loyalty nor did he allow me to check and confirm and approve my bills. Then he wanted to email it, I said in the past I've not gotten emails and I want a hard copy. He printed it and did not give it to me, it was on his desk below the counter. He asked me is there anything else, I said yes there were these proof of stay letters I was supposed to get and I showed him a copy as what they gave me in 2024. He said I don't know anything about that. So I told him that lady who was standing on desk one had a conversation about this with me. So he dissappeared to back office spoke to her and came back. He then printed 3 room reservation confirmations out and showed that to me. One had my, name the second one of my daughters names and the third had another of my daughters names on it. Anything else he asked? Well I said there were 5 of us who stayed with you and 2 of them are not included. He shrugged his shoulders and said this is all I can do. Well I said it doesn't have any required information and you have them all recorded on arrival and check in. So why can't you give me that as you did last time? He threw all the 3 confirmations on to my printed invoice below and stormed off saying I refuse to deal with you. So when you have spent around 3000 euros for a stay and you are spoken to as if you are a beggar begging for something that you do not have the right to ask for? My question is this Marriott or Mar- Riot?|I was told by an apologetic and polite manager that this person was called Riccardo. He is not fit to be in the Hospitality industry. I deduced one thing all people who use the 16:00 check out beware. It looks like there is a staff change around this time.. So computers hanging etc is just a ruse... Even this Ricardo probably wanted to clock off and leave and was being made to stay on because the ladies left. So when he realized he had to do the 5 letters he blew his fuse and dissappeared. So those of you who need these letters you cannot depend on the front desk staff at the hotel to serve you. Even what they finally gave me was not good enough sadly. I did not have the heart to demand it by an already very distressed front office manager. I'm attaching the letter they gave me in 2024 that I showed them as a reference to recreate now in 2025. In fact I even offered to email it to them as an easy template to use, they said not needed we have it. (I've intentionally blacked out bio info on it.)||Other problems at this hotel that the management needs to address.... There are no charging points on either bedside. It has a USB port at the bottom of the lamp, but that's too weak to charge an iPad or any modern high end phone, leave alone a laptop. FYI a standard USB slot has just a 2.5W output, whereas the new phones and Ipad's need a minimum output of 30W going upto to 80W laptops need 100W. ||The restaurant downstairs, the a la carte dinner menu hasn't changed since April 2024. It was exactly the same as my last visit and hence I dined there just once this time. The menu is also very limited. ||Housekeeping do not replace the body cream and shower caps. We had to ask every day for it to be replenished. ||Travellers who are in need of the proof of stay to meet residency requirements, insist on speaking to a manager in advance and ensure that it's being made ready, don't wait in expectation and trust. Never depend on the front desk staff. ||If you need smaller denominations for tips, don't expect to get these changed at the front desk. It might be standard fare elsewhere but here it doesn't happen. Maybe the front desk doesn't like others getting tips.||If you are an elite Bonvoy member who plans to do a late 4pm check out. Remember the changing of the guard at around that time on the front desk will leave you waiting to be served a minimum wait of 20 minutes. So either you check out at 4.30 or earlier. The dedicated Bonvoy counter is where Ricardo was and it serves the crew more often and it's never available for you. ||If you are a Marriott Ambassador and you ever want your 24/7 don't expect anything from this place. They give you access to their lounge, I could never use it even once, because it was so overcrowded and had no space in it. It felt more like a food court. Furthermore a day before arriving I noticed that one of my 3 rooms had disappeared from the Bonvoy app. I had to reach out to ambassador service to ensure it...

Read moreI read many many reviews for this Marriott prior to planning a life-longed for journey to Lisbon! I always have strong expectations for any visit to a Marriott hotel. Especially when I am afforded opportunity to visit Europe! As a titanium member, I hoped for a good experience from Marriott overall. ||However, I was blessed beyond measure during my travel to this particular hotel-home, in Lisbon. My stay at this Marriott welcomed me with loving and kind people, who demonstrated value and consideration for any need before I even asked. So you may ask “what makes them so special?” All of the staff are simply extraordinary human beings! They are unpretentious. They always smile! They ask about one’s well-being. They give the best of themselves and provide every effort to answer questions, to assist with traveling tours, to provide points of interest that help create pathways of exploration, while in Lisbon, to assuring, you are well fed! I have a missed experiencing such fulfilling and consistent kindnesses in the states.||Every space of hospitality from food, beverage, housekeeping, concierge services, front desk reception, poolside services, interns and trainees to seasoned professional executives were so wonderful that I returned after a week’s stay in Morocco — and before my departure to the United States.||The breakfasts are delectable! The varieties of offerings are filled with Prosecco, cappuccino and other combinations coffees and herbal teas to fresh squeezed juices complete with light and tasty pastries of Portugal! The daily variety of fresh fruits and selections of hot and cold meats and eggs appeal to many appetites.||Additionally, the executive lounge areas provide indoor and outdoor seating that overlook the beautiful blue water of the pool! The restaurants are clean, and mindful of seating needs. They offer newcomers and long term residents curious and tasty options to explore daily!||The rooms are meticulously, cared for, and extremely comfortable! The views overlooking the city are extraordinary! The Ubers to the city center and Taxis are convenient to almost anywhere! The Catholic university is directly across from the hotel and there is a lovely hospital around the corner across from another university area. There are buses that travel, not very far from the hotel to the city center as well.||To my new friends and family, especially Paula Lino, you each treated me like a celebrity! And as a solo traveler of 66 years old, I felt like a queen in your eyes! Thank you for being so kind and loving and giving! You are truly blessed human beings, and helped to make my world better! I look forward to meeting you again in...
