Miss Jappa — Restaurant in Lisbon

I expected more (in size and quality) from a 13.50 € chashu ramen entree. The noodles were dried industrial noodles (but rather higher quality and cooked al dente). The chashu (pork) was a mix of sausage and pulled pork. The bouillon was really tasty however. And there was a bit of sugar in the macha iced tea. 😱 The serving was a bit small.

I still give the restaurant 4 stars because the people were very friendly and the service very good. The restaurant atmosphere was also nice. But reserve your place, especially during the week-end. I was on the patio, at the back, outside of the restaurant, completely remote and all by myself because I did not reserve.

The miso soup was super salty and had no depth of flavour, very unsatisfying, which is exactly the opposite of what a miso soup should be. The sushi was okay at best. We had a combo platter which was expensive and small and bland.

The tuna was grey and flavourless. The salmon was better. The wasabi was unnoticeable and the rice was uninteresting.

The korean fried chicken bao was the best dish, which is surprising given it's a Japanese restaurant... The okonomiyaki was enjoyable.

To complement the poor food the atmosphere was equally bland, service was average.

2/5 only cos the lowest rating possible is 1 and I only give 1 stars to places I get...

Overall, nice and stylish interior design and friendly staff. However, do not expect great quality from the ramen soups. The soups are the reason that I'm not accrediting 5 stars. Noodles are not homemade, the broth is thin and mild and it all kinda tastes like something I could throw together at home with some spice packets. Definitely not following traditional Japanese ramen recipes. BUT the appetizers and especially the desserts (black sesame creme brulee) were quite good.
