Hamburgueria do Bairro - Príncipe Real — Restaurant in Lisbon

At times the places with the biggest name can give the biggest disappointment. The first time I've visited Hamburgaria do bairro was one such time.

It's not that it was bad, it's that the reputation of the burger joint preceded it and with it, anticipation.

The place was OK, although a bit overcrowd. The sitting arrangements however were a bit discomfortable. Since there was nothing else to sit on, I sat on the tiniest stool.

The food was good, but not great, like expected, again, from reputation.

The service was, serviceable... There were 6 people at the table, only 2 orders came without some mistake. To be fair to the nice lady taking our order though, some of the requests were a bit too customised and the errors were promptly and quickly amended.

Overall, the place was OK for what it was, I was simply expecting more than the place probably,...

For years I've heard "it's good but not as good as [insert_another_similar_hamburger_house]." Well I decided to try it and felt sorry for not have tried it earlier.

The place itself is not very big but luckily was not crowded which allowed to have the a nice quite meal. The staff was nice and professional.

The hamburger was a well seasoned medium/rare 160g of beef in a soft bun accompanied with a generous dose of fries seasoned with salt and what I think were oregano.

Two hamburgers (with an aditional extra in one of them), two sodas and two espressos for 20€ is a very good price for the quality of the meal and the location of the place.

The sweet potatoes were nice. Also, the place has nice interiors.

However, the burger was quite weird. The meat seemed to have been minced (too) many times. Also, the bun was like one bought in Tesco for home-made burgers. There was nothing special about the burger when it comes to the taste. I needed to use the sauce served for the potatoes (otherwise, it had no taste). I have eaten better burgers.

When I asked for the bill, the waiter told me I could not pay by card. I asked again, so he said I could pay if it's American Express. It was not, so I had to pay by cash. I think I would expect such places to inform consumers at the entrance about...
