This is the first restaurant in Lisboa we ate at, and we were so disappointed that I almost rated it with 1 stat. However, since it was first, I decided to try a few others before rating this one. In all honesty, if i were to compare it to other restaurants in all countries I've been to, i would give it 1 star, but, compared to other such restaurants in Lisabon it deserves at least 3. Ok, so this is why: Bad: as soon as we sat, the waiter dropped 3 expensive appetizers ( which we didn't order) on our table in order to trick us to think it was free (we later realized that this is common practice in Lisabon toward all tourists). after we placed an order of a simple dish ( grilled mackerells + veggies) we had to wait well over an hour to finally get our fish, at no point did the waiter come to appologize for the wait nor offered any explanation for the wait. ( note, it's a very small restaurant with maybe max 15 customers ). the fish was overdone on the outside (almost burnt) and completelly raw (bloody) in the middle. the owner crammed 8 tables into a space that should be 4-5 tables max ( yes, it can be charming to knock elbows with other customers, but not if the waitors have to squeeze between chairs, nudging you every time they pass) appetizers are more expensive than the main dishes
Good: they didn't make a fuss about us rejecting one of the appetizers the main dish prices are ok the house wine is cheap and fantastic the appetizers we accepted were very tasty.
Total: It's an average Lisboan restaurant, probably great for the locals but crappy...
Read moreAs soon you walk in you are transported to a Pessoas' story, an old Lisbona that has to be protected for the future generations. Enrico, our host, was incredibly professional, and exactly knew what we were looking for. There were 4 of us, and as soon we sat, we were offered some amuse-bouche olives, cheese, bread and crackers, a real touch just like visiting an old friend. We all had different mains and all of them were absolutely amazing, from fish, to the meet, but the real outstanding one was the Rabbit. It was over 20 years ago that I had something similar, thank you for this. As per Enrico's suggestion we had 2 portions of Risotto with Monkfish and Prawns, absolutely wonderful 😊. We ended our meal with wine Cooked Pear and cinnamon and Cooked Peach and cinnamon, the perfect end. We couldn't resist to the temptation of a brandy, that was served by warming our glasses with hot water at the table. All the meal was accompanied by 2 wonderful bottle of wine 🍷. I strongly recommend to visit this place and just do not ask for the menu, just let your host showing you the...
Read moreWe walked upon this restaurant on a Saturday evening and walked inside to ask if we could get a table for 2. The server/host inside told us if there was a table available we could help ourselves. When we walked back out we realized the tables had numbers on them and did not know if that meant they were reserved. As we patiently waited to confirm that the tables were available, another group of 2 women walked up and the host blatantly ignored us to seat them at the table we were asking about. They obviously knew we were there first and one of the servers told the other host/server that we were there first. They continued to ignore us and seat other people that skipped us. I went inside to speak with another person and this gentleman also seemed disinterested in seating us. This place has terrible customer service and I would highly recommend that you skip this restaurant if you want to be treated with respect. Here is a photo of the first server/host that blatantly ignored us....
