I want to strongly caution fellow tourists against visiting this restaurant based on my recent experience. We were drawn to this establishment on the recommendation of a friend from Lisbon, and I regret to say that our visit was a complete disappointment.
From the moment we arrived, it was clear that something was amiss. While we intended to order from the standard dish menus, our waiter was adamant that we examine the fresh fish options. Despite our clear and repeated protests, he insisted, asserting that this was the norm for everyone. What followed was an uncomfortable trip to the front of the restaurant, where the waiter picked fish for us, despite our clear preference against it. This aggressive upselling tactic was a major turn-off.
The financial shock came when our bill arrived, totaling a staggering €400 for just lobster, clams, and langoustine. The consistent delivery of bread and other starters to our table, which we didn't request, only added to the sense of being taken advantage of.
It's truly disheartening that such an establishment, which is clearly targeting tourists, falls so short in delivering a positive dining experience. What's even more disconcerting is that our Portuguese friend, who recommended us, revealed that they had never been treated in such a manner in this restaurant or told to order from the fish counter. It appears that these practices are selectively imposed on tourists.
In summary, I would wholeheartedly advise against dining here. This restaurant appears to have a clear agenda of exploiting tourists, offering subpar food, and employing aggressive tactics to inflate bills. I implore fellow travelers to seek out more authentic and welcoming dining options in Lisbon to truly savor the local cuisine and hospitality, instead of falling victim to such a...
Read moreWe had everything super in Lisbon except the experience we had in This restaurant . My family arrived and had lunch in here yesterday at 2 pm ( 4 peoples) - Monday 20 th November. We had one ONLY one SEAFOOD platter to share between us . 2 baskets of bread , 1 glass one red wine , one orange juice and one seven up . We was told at the door 35 kg per lobster which is the most expensive one on the menu. And king crab ( same price ) and few prawns and small size clams in the. Middle ! Picture provided below . Whichever the plate didn’t weigh in front of us . Our bill was 354 euro ! We shocked . We came home and asked our hotel reception and was told we have been rid off. Never ever come and dine your food in here. The hotel rang back for us next day they said you need to provide invoice but we paid cash . Before making things clarify it , our hotel asked for same food through the phone - they said cost about 18 euro each person without any drinks . So basically the waiter who served us put in his pocket around 200 euro . He wispier me the bill did not included service charge . I will make this statement to local Police of Lisbon so people can be Well awarded of this place . This beautiful city does not deserve to have this kind of people . We never feel anything like this in any city we...
Read moreI ordered the monkfish and rice. It was pretty bland, and below the standard of food I had eaten over my entire trip, but that isn’t why I’m leaving 1 star. At the end of the meal, an older grey haired server asked me to provide a tip because it wasn’t included in my bill. Service was okay, and I told him I would provide the equivalent of an 18% tip. The expected for minimum service where I’m from. He proceeded to put in the equivalent of an 25% tip and then asked if I was American. I’m not sure why that makes a difference, but I’m from Canada. I’m honestly a bit disgusted by his behaviour. Every country has a range of people, some polite, some rude, some good, some bad. But his behaviour was so mismatched from everyone I encountered in Portugal, or even in this restaurant. The only reason I’m providing one star is because a different server ran after me when I forgot a bag with gifts for my family. This second server was quite sweet. I hope he finds a place of employment that...
