If you like properly done technical history then this is recommended, just as the nearby old electrical power plant (now part of MAAT). Having some idea what this kind of technology is about, helps. Don't go here if you just want spectacular views. They are, but you go here for the bridge construction, not the views.
You're also pretty much by yourself. Study the numerous technical detail pieces of information -- they are well presented, but seem forgotten -- many are literally on the floor outside, embedded in the tiles. You walk around the anchor block and cross through the climbing school, which is fun, too. 50 meters of good stairs are no issue if you have already negotiated Lisboa hills for a while.
The VR set where you join a maintenance crew on the bridge is also well done, and very interesting.
If you're half a mechanical engineer, you'll love it. And the access fee is negligible.
If by car, come early, but not too early. The gates to the Avenida da Índia open only at 10:00 sharp and there are not many parking spots. Approach from the East else you cannot safety turn into the gates, and U-turns on that road are not...

[!]Please note: Your things will be checked by security (Like in Museu do Tesouro or Museu do Dinheiro). Leave screwdrivers, multitools, or other tools outside.
This place is not a museum, it's rather similar to the Statue of Jesus Christ (Almada) or Amoreiras 360 (the highest point of Lisbon). Here you can see Lisbon from the 25 de Abril Bridge height [and that is]. The place has a panoramic view (through the glass) and you can look at famous buildings from a drone's "eye" view (Instituto de Agronomia, Palacio Condes da Ribeira Grande, MAAT, Padrao dos Descobrimentos, etc.). Part of it includes a glass surface underfoot. On the other hand, cars and trains create a lot of noise / discomfort.
What can be changed: Add benches and a trash can (at the top) Repair the elevator (height: more than 65 meters) Add a Tower Viewer...
Read moreHorrible experience – disgusting abusive behaviour from male security staff named Bruno. Rude and aggressive behaviour while having bag checked. After we questioned his rudeness, he then escalated to threatening violence to myself and husband while we waited for the escalator, literally shouting across the floor at us. I note another recent google review has mentioned this same person at security by the escalator.
Despite an official complaint to the ‘Director General, Rubens Antunes’ at Lisbon Tourism nobody has bothered to look into this or reply.
View is ok but really not worth the risk of abuse (while on your holiday!) from an out of control staff member. When I asked for the person’s name at Reception so I could follow this up with an official complaint, the look from the 2 ladies at Reception said it all, as they were clearly not unfamiliar with his behaviour.
You have...
