Restaurante Monte Alto — Restaurant in Lisbon

I’ve eaten here three separate times over the course of a year. The food is tremendous, service is unique. The owner who clearly operates as if his pants are on fire is always helpful. His memory is astounding and his ability to run front of house as one unit is impressive.

The chef, quiet and behind the scenes, consistently puts out quality food every time. The fish is always fabulous, dessert and drinks, the same.

It looks like the 'olive oil crisis' has also hit Portugal, this restaurant in particular, where I was horrified to see that my Lagareiro Octopus had been cooked in sunflower (or other vegetable) oil! I was also disappointed to see that the usual spinach it is served with at most places had been replaced with one broccoli floret and some raw onions! The octopus tasted good, and it was nice and tender but the piece was rather small compared to what they have served in other...

We ordered the seafood dish for 2 (seabass, dorada & prawns), it came with new potatoes & green beans and was fantastic. The owner also de-boned it before serving it to us. We loved it so much we are going back tomorrow and are hoping for another fantastic meal.
