Good reproductions of the most famous works by Banksy! I mean, it's stencil art, so that element should't be hard to copy. But they have put in a great effort to mimic the pieces surroundings, as well as provided nice information texts for each piece. The whole space is also quite cool in general.
I was glad they refrained themselves from recreating "Love is in the Bin" and just went for "Girl with Balloon" instead. It was also a fun, but obvious, take to have the exit via the gift shop, which also ended completely with "Festival"... Jokes on us as usual.
I was however disappointed they had nothing from Dismaland, and it would have been cool with some of Banksys more "commercial" work. I felt the Basquiat themed room could have had a TV playing his Simpsons intro, some headphones playing "Think Tank"... But I guess you have to draw the line somewhere.
The most disappointing thing though: not even a mention of Blek le Rat. Only some vauge allusions towards "rats, Banksys favorite animal", or "the artists rats, in Paris where they belong". I feel that Blek, who have been such an obvious influence of Banksy, deserves at least some credit.
All in all, a nice place! If you have the slightest interest in Banksy, or street art in general, pay...
Read moreVery disappointing. The works are not faithful to the originals and little effort has been made to highlight them: not much has been made to approximate the original 'street' conditions: very partial reproducing of essential floor/below the original artwork surroundings... A yellow and black lines sticker draws the eye in an exacerbated (and unjustified) way throughout the whole exhibition. A more discreet line would have done the trick... Poor reproduction of certain works (see The gleaners... shameful cut-out and position of the woman smoking, background of the cut-out not allowing the wall below to be seen... therefore anihilating the cut-out effect), lack of depth in the commentary on each work, poor quality of certain reproductions...
The 2nd star given is due solely to the quality of the short film shown in one of the cinemas, which provides a better interpretation of the Banksy universe. At €13 a ticket...it's...
Read moreOn our free day in Lisbon, we stumbled into one of the unexpected highlights of our trip—the Banksy Museum—and we absolutely loved it. Whether you're a longtime fan of his work or just curious about street art, this museum does an incredible job of showcasing the bold, witty, and thought-provoking world of Banksy.
The space is immersive and well-curated, filled with recreations of his most iconic pieces, plus a powerful narrative that puts his art in context. Every room felt like a walk through rebellion, satire, and social commentary—with just the right mix of humor and punch-you-in-the-gut truth.
We left inspired, impressed, and maybe a little more ready to question authority (in a good way). If you're in Lisbon and have even a passing interest in art, politics, or the mysterious life of this elusive artist, do not miss this spot. It’s edgy, insightful, and a truly...
