The sign of a great dining experience is when the food is so spectacular that you a) remember the flavors and b) you can’t wait to go back! Sea Me was so good that we went twice in the few days of our stay. Hands down the best restaurant we went to in Lisbon. The food was so fresh and the overall quality felt very refined, yet so delicious that we couldn’t stop ordering more dishes. We truly loved every single minute of being there. We ordered:
Oysters: they had three different kinds from southern to northern Portugal. The southern ones were sweeter and the northern ones on the saltier side, but they were all excellent *MUST order Tuna ceviche *MUST order, however the presentation was different from the second time we went. The he tuna was sliced into cubes and the ingredients were layered on top of each other. I preferred the way they were done the first time around, where the tuna was thinly sliced and the ingredients were mixed together, somehow this gave the dish much stronger flavours. Fish tartar of the day: seabass and on the second day they had grouper fish tartar. The presentation was interesting, as all the accompaniments surrounded the tartar in the centre. Seabass and seaweed salad Seared scallops: texture and flavor was fantastic Shrimp tempura: crunchy almond crust Squid salad: interesting presentation as the squid was sliced into very thin strips but I wasn’t crazy about this dish, the squid lacked flavor in my opinion Grilled Octopus: very good, although there was a bit too much olive oil for me House sushi: good but I wouldn’t necessarily order the roll again, it was enjoyable but not wow Grilled Sardine nigiri with flor de sal: the way to go, we ordered this along with the fois gras sushi on repeat. Hands down the best sardine nigiri I’ve ever had in my entire life *MUST MUST order Foie gras sushi: just insanse! Topped with a slice of grilled unagi *TRIPLE MUST order!
We also ordered several of their rolls, some of which were very good but by that point I had too much of the wine to keep track of what we were ordering
Speaking of wine, we had the Quinta dos Carvalhais, which I found superb. It has a slight taste of honey and matched the food perfectly. Ending the meal with a glass of rose champagne is always a good idea as well. It was a true dining bonanza and we stuffed our faces like no tomorrow, but it was one of those unforgettable meals that was just so worth it! It also gets quite buzzy at night with a live DJ, so would definitely recommend going there for...
Read moreWOULD. NOT. RECOMMEND. If you do risk eating here, please make sure you CHECK YOUR BILL thoroughly.
My friends and I had dinner here and so much went wrong! Firstly, it was wildly overpriced, then the food made us ill, one of our party was VIOLENTLY ILL! But it wasn’t just these big issues, there were small things too, like the harsh super bright lighting that gave us all a headache. As you can imagine, all these things combined just made the dining experience uncomfortable and, overall it was a major disappointment.
We ordered from the fish market and during the ordering process we were given hugely inaccurate estimated pricing for every item that we ordered. This amounted to approx €120 more on our bill than expected.
At this point, we were prompted to actually look more closely at the rest of the bill, which helped us notice that we had been charged for multiple things that we had not ordered, including a €70 bottle of wine. When questioned, staff bought two further incorrect bills along with many excuses. It felt weirdly like we weren’t being told the truth. So, then we noticed that we were being charged €55 for a plate with 2 of the smallest scallops you’ve ever seen, when on the regular menu they were priced at €11.50 for 2 (naturally, no one cared to highlight these two price options to us, so we could choose the option that suited us best). Not to mention the fact that the scallops were not actually even cooked properly. When we enquired more about the scallops price, the staff were defensive and tried to imply that we were mistaken or arguing because we couldn’t afford it. I got the impression that they are very used to people not checking their bills because they can afford it or after a few drinks are too busy with their friends/family to really check what they’re being charged for. The wait staff even defended the incorrect pricing and tried to convince us that these 2 tiny scallops weighed the same as 2 chicken breasts! Shocking.
I just wish that I had noticed some of the other reviews mentioning similar issues before we booked.
This experience really put a dampener on our...
Read moreI wanted to hate this place. My family wanted to come but I thought it was going to be overpriced and mid. I actually care for my money and want to go to places that are worth it. However… I was pleasantly surprised. Here is my full review:
The service starts off up-scale, smiles, jokes, friendly and very attentive.
Their main “menu item” is the catch of the day, so they will show you the options and they each have a price per kilo. Then you can select a side dish. They also have other options off the menu. We had one of the grilled fishes and the bacalao.
The fish was actually just very, very well cooked. Tender, perfectly seasoned, delicate yet charred from the grill… it was truly one of the best cooked fishes I have ever had. The tomato rice was also perfectly cooked and very flavorful.
My family had the bacalao, I am not a fan in general but still think it was very well done. The vegetables side was good, although not outstanding.
The dessert… wow. I got the lemon curd and would recommend the same. It’s the perfect ending for a fish meal.
We did not have appetizers and truthfully didn’t need them, the portions were pretty big and we were all really full with the sides and mains.
Bottom line… I am giving them 4 starts because I truly enjoyed the meal and I do believe is priced in pair for the experience. The only thing I would say was unnecessary was the couvert of bread, homemade butter and olive oil for €4.50 per PERSON. That was €18 euros right away for a party of 4. You pretty much can’t say no to that so you are obliged to get it. I would just make that included and only if the table wants it. For the prices of everything else, I am sure they can afford it.
Just be ready to pay +€50 per person, but you will surely have...
