Zé dos Bois gallery — Attraction in Lisbon

The art, bookstore, and space were generally pretty nice and we were more than happy to pay the 3 euro entry fee.

I have always known alternative art to be pretty open minded and relaxed but not this one.

Upon entry, the person working the front informed us that they would be having a party later and we would have to pay an additional 7 euro if we wanted to stick around for it. No big deal. We paid the 3 euro and headed upstairs intending to leave whenever the party started.

About 30 minutes later we bought our drinks at the bar and headed out to the rooftop to enjoy them and chat. Immediately, some guy comes out frantically telling us we needed to pound them and leave within 2 minutes because the party was going to start soon.

We told him we would hurry it up a bit and he left.

Two minutes later this guy is back as if we set a timer and he is borderline mad. He starts freaking out on us about not being done with our drinks. I explain that we are hurrying but they were like 8 euro and we wanted to enjoy them. I assured him that we aren't trying to sneak into his party and that we would leave after our drinks and that he should just start his party if he was waiting on us or anything.

Anyway, this dude was borderline hysterical so we left.

Weird place....

This is a review for the rooftop of the gallery. It is a hidden gem inside a the chaos of the street party. Is located in the third floor of the gallery. Is not easy to find because there is no sign in the street so you better use your google map. Is a very nice place at the top of the building, really fresh, nice environment, you can see locals having drinks there. Drinks are really cheap (beers from 1.5 euros), but you need to bring cash to this place. I really like to find a nice place full of locals in the middle of this street full of bars...

great gallery space with a beautiful interior and thoughtful lighting. loved the little detailed tiles along the skirting and the hard wood floors. amazing art too, both exhibitions were by artists i hadn’t heard of, but some pieces really blew me away, and the information provided in english gave some thought provoking insights. the bookshop on the ground floor is filled with cool books and zines and the rooftop bar served cheap draft beer and...
