Valhalla Rock Pub — Restaurant in Lisbon

What can I say about this hidden metal gem in Ajuda, Lisbon? I will start with the overall feeling and decoration. At the instant you enter the bar you clearly realize that you are in maybe one of the truest and most well decorated metal bar. Flags of Slayer, Metallica, Motorhead, Judas Priest, Amon Amarth and so on decorate the ceiling. On the walls hang beautiful frames album covers from Kreator, Overkill, Metallica, Venom etc as well as pictures of iconic figures of the hard rock and heavy metal genre. The bar's decoration is just outstanding with numerous souvenirs that are just exactly what you want to see in a place like this one.

Nevertheless, the bar's musical preferences do not stop at the typical heavy metal and rock choices but also plays a thrash, death, brutal death, black metal and anything in between (even brutal slamming death metal in a good day).

The food they serve is really nice and tasty and they serve till very late so noone stays without food if they need to eat at 1AM, which I have never experineced before in any other bar where usually the kitchen closes much earlier than the bar.

Finally, I would like to talk about the owner and crazy metalhead Valdinho! This is guy is just the best. He speaks english so foreigners like me do not feel excluded, he takes requests of songs which he actually plays and he is in general a very pleasant person to be around and discuss metal with.

I have cherished both times I visited the bar and always left fullfilled. Congratulations Valdinho, may Valhalla Rock Pub reign forever!

P.S. there is an arcade emulator where you can play FOR FREE old video games like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Tekken and other gems of the early...

VERY overated. No soul, no atmosphere.

When we walked in, the bar was almost empty, just 2-3 old folks eating burgers in silence. The owner barely looked at us and stayed on his phone the whole time (when he was in the bar...)

The decor is kitch and outdated, you feel like you're in a teenager's bedroom. Since when Christmas lights are considered metal? The music is basically your grandfather metal music.

Also, where we are from, the metal community is very inclusive and friendly. This is not the case here. Very bad taste. Having signs on the men bathroom saying 'no shirt no service' and 'no shirt free drinks'on the ladies one would never happen, actually, it might actually spark some very dangerous situations for the owner and employees and be considered misogynistic.

My girlfriend took the bill when we left, the owner gave me her change....

This is an overated incel bar. Stay away, not worth it.

By the way, we usually spend 50-70 euros in a bar for the night. We spent 5 and felt like we wasted an hour...

I've been to alot of different bars in alot of different countries and Valhalla is without a doubt the best I've ever been to! The drinks, music, food and atmosphere were all incredible everytime I visited. I was always made to feel so welcome everytime I walked into the bar and the owner Val is one of the most incredibly friendly and inviting individuals I have ever met! It's hard to put into words just how much I loved Valhalla and it made my recent trip to Lisbon absolutely incredible!
