Friends recommended BJ’s as a must-try on our 2nd trip to Quarteira, and we were sad to see they were closing the day after we arrived so we knew we needed to make it before they closed for the season. We decided to walk (approx 30 min) but unfortunately a storm hit the area the day before we flew in a wiped out the beach path. We decided to continue our journey (which turned into a 60 min detour with a toddler and baby in-tow) and we are SO glad we did!
The reviews surrounding BJ’s is that it’s expensive, which can be true if you’re comparing the cost of seafood, however the location, ambiance, live music, and staff make it well worth a few dollars difference.
The staff was extremely welcoming (during a very busy day) making room for our group of 6 (including toddler and baby) and set us up with high chairs and space for our stroller. Our toddler loved being able to run down the beach between courses, and the live music lulled our baby to sleep. We were helped by multiple waitstaff who were extremely attentive and even helped us find a quicker alternative route home.
We tried a whole sea bass at nearly every restaurant we tried during our two-week stay and BJ’s was our favourite! The kitchen had a beautiful sauce to pair with it, and the chicken was delectable. We had a severe nut allergy within the group and all of our selections were reviewed and noted to the kitchen.
Overall a great experience on the final day of their season- we wished we could have experienced...
Read moreLet me start by saying this: I do not give out five-star reviews lightly. In fact, I was fully prepared to be disappointed, because let’s be honest—most restaurants these days don’t even try. But THIS place? A rare gem.
First, the view. STUNNING. I demand an ambiance when I dine out, and this restaurant delivered. The ocean breeze? Perfect. The sunset? Gorgeous. The table placement? Strategic. I could actually enjoy my meal without hearing someone’s screaming toddler from two tables over. Whoever planned the seating arrangements deserves a raise.
Now, let’s talk about service. Our waiter, was an absolute angel. Water glasses? Always full. And when I asked if the chef could make just a few modifications to my dish (because, let’s be real, menus are just suggestions), he didn’t even flinch. THAT is the level of accommodation I expect from a high-quality establishment.
The food? Impeccable. I ordered the grilled sea bass, and it was cooked to perfection—not dry, not underdone, just flawless. My husband got the sea bream, and even he couldn’t complain (and trust me, he loves to complain).
Now, I did have one issue: The music. Was it a little too loud? Yes. Was it entirely necessary to play whatever EDM nonsense they had on? No. BUT, because everything else was so flawless, I will graciously overlook this.
Final verdict? This place has earned my five stars. I will be back. And next time, I expect my...
Read moreVery rude. Only if you want food and with reservation. Okay so first of all, when we arrived you offered us a seat and said we could have that for 1.5 hours. So I really have a hard time understand how anything you write here makes sense. Only after we said we only wanted drinks, you offered us a „seat“ in the sun, and said no without reservation. So I get it, we are not the kind of customer you wanted, you care about the money I get it. I don’t know why you accuse me of „rolling my eyes“ I certainly didn’t as you weren’t even talking to me lol. And after looking at other 1-star reviews, your responses speak for themselves, as you are clearly incapable of receiving negative feedback. Speaking badly about the customer instead of apologizing, that’s just sad. I really just wanted to enjoy a drink on my vacation at your place it was really nice there but personally I think you can learn something about customers service. Have a good day. You can stop discussing this further here with me, as you are simply just saying we are the problem or rude, when we just asked nicely...
