I recently dined at my favorite spot in Areia Branca — Alta Restaurant — and once again, it was an unforgettable experience. The breathtaking views of the Atlantic, combined with an elegant yet cozy atmosphere, make it a place I always look forward to returning to. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was nothing short of exquisite, showcasing elevated Portuguese cuisine. We started with the short ribs, bursting with flavor and truly a joy in every bite. For my main course, I had the seafood rice with monkfish and shrimp, a rich stew in a perfectly balanced broth of seafood, cilantro, and tomato, beautifully presented. My guest enjoyed the traditional sardines, a generous platter of perfectly char-grilled fish with salty, crispy skin and juicy, flavorful meat. We also had a couple of cocktails from their creative drink menu, which were expertly crafted with unique flavors. For dessert, we shared the chocolate cake with Chantilly cream, paired with smooth expresso coffee — the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, Alta Restaurant is a gem in Areia Branca. The combination of outstanding food, warm service, and stunning ocean views makes it a truly special place. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience — I’ll definitely be returning.

This restaurant really does hit all 3 benchmarks for a review. For starters, each of the appetizers (Short ribs, peach and tomato salad, cod fritters, and olives) were amazing with my favourite being the short ribs (the marinade was amazing). For my entree, I had the grilled yellowtail which was cooked perfectly and served with a green olive oil sauce (olive oil, cauliflower, spices, peppers) and some roasted potatoes. It was the best seafood dish I've had in years. I also got to try the octopus and the grilled Iberico pork neck both of which were absolutely delicious as well. Finally, I finished the meal off with an amazing slice of Basque cheesecake that was superb. As far as ambience and atmosphere, the location of this restaurant is one of the best I've ever experienced. Perched on a cliffside with views of the ocean everywhere, the decor is simple and elegant to compliment the amazing views that you can find sitting at any table. I was awestruck throughout the entire meal just being at the table. Finally the service was amazing with each of the servers speaking english. They were attentive and made sure our food got to the table on time. If you're in the area and are willing to part with some extra euro I would highly reccomend this restaurant.

Exceptional service with very attentive staff (even down the the small details of not leaning over people to place cutlery on the table, or waiting until all people finish to clear plates) Atmosphere and decor is just stunning! I would move in to the restaurant if I could - it’s so beautifully decorated and had a very classic, and chilled vibe to the environment. Finally, the food: incredible! So full of flavor and delicious (I dined with local Portuguese who loved the dishes also)! The price point is also fantastic (a little steep on the catch of the day or shred dishes, however you are informed the price per kilo before). Overall, I would 100% recommend Alta, and will be coming again!

Went for a meal tonight after reading the fantastic reviews, All I can say is "Extremely disappointing !" Not with the food, which was excellent. The place itself is in a great location, but the service is beyond terrible ! Menu was delivered as we sat down and was approximately 20 mins before any orders were taken. The starters were than delivered at different times rather than all together which was not a good start to the meal. The dirty plates were left for an unacceptable 20mins before being cleared. No excuse or reason given by any waiting staff as to why this was the case. The Main courses did arrive together, but at this point we were feeling overwhelmingly disappointed with the service at this restaurant. These issues were brought to the attention of the management, but nothing addressed, so felt compelled to leave this review. If you want great dining experience, this restaurant really...
