7 Praias da Baleia — Restaurant in Mafra

Only one other table here when we arrived, we were in a rush so we ordered potato chips and a tiger prawn, both of which would have been quick to cook (would take max 10 mins for the prawn, if it’s boiled first and then pan fried-I googled it) and chips are quick… or so we thought. The came to show us the prawn within 3 minutes of us ordering.

The waiter was friendly and nice enough but then other people started occupying the tables around us, and eventually they all ordered and received their meals, some were even done eating and we still had not received our food.

We eventually, received some bread and butter type things after 40 mins, and after 50 mins, we complained and they said they would check with the kitchen, 2 mins later it came out.

The prawn was completely over cooked, rubbery like you wouldn’t believe. And at €90 per kg we were obviously dissatisfied, though there were no waiters around to ask us about our meal, and we were in a rush so we ate the food because we were now very late for our next engagement.

The chips looked like day old chips that had been chucked in the fryer again, very wrinkled and also cold by the time they arrived. We had to ask for salt and we had to ask for vinegar, which everyone around us had been given without asking. When the vinegar bottle arrived there was nothing in it and we again had to get their attention.

After the meal when the server asked us how it was, we explained that we were dissatisfied and disappointed and he didn’t even apologise or make any attempt at sympathy.

Got there at noon, we were the first customers. My wife and 2 grandkids hungry from a hot morning at the beach. In terms of service,The guys there were very nice and helpful. However the young lady seemed annoyed or bothered by our presence. As friendly and prickly as a cactus. Asked her for several items they never arrived, had to ask the guys. As far as food in my opinion way overpriced. we had a veg soup (very tasty) the worse seafood soup ever. A child menu best thing we ate 12.90. A shrimp omelette very good. A 19 euro plate with slivers of zucchini ,goat cheese and shavings of truffles, (just ok)Zero alcohol and a couple of juices. A very small but pricey lunch. First and last time. View is amazing location 5 stars, food 3 stars,the service from the male staff 5 stars, the young lady gets a 1 star, no thanks I wont come back . I live here and will make sure my friends don’t waste...

The food was good and the view as well but for me the service is just as important and they definitely fell short here. The guys working where pretty nice but the girl was a thorn on your behind. First me and my girlfriend was not informed that we were not able to pay by any other card than Portuguese cards. Then we politely said we would go to the ATM and come back. Thre woman had the gut to basically force one of us to stay. Treating us like common thieves when they failed to inform us from the start. Then as I went she was standing by the staircase guarding my girlfriend. Not the kind of experience you want as a paying customer. I hope the restaurant sinks with her at the steering wheel. I also hope she reads this so she can feel as terrible as she treated us. I'm the mirror for you to view your own ugly...
