O Arquinho do Castelo — Restaurant in Matosinhos

From the front side, it doesn't look like much, but the dining toom is actually relatively fancy. It has typical Portuguese food mostly oriented toward fish and sea food dishes, but it also has a few meat option. For starters we tried the prato de salgadinhos. It took a bit of time to arrive, probably because they make them fresh. They arrived hot and we're delicious. For main we had filetes de polvo com arroz de polvo and filetes de pescada com molho de camarão. Both were ver good. The filetes de polvo were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside soft but still with a bit in the inside. The rice was also good. It had a lot of octopus. The largest pieces were a bit chewy for my taste, but overall it was very good. The filetes de pescada were very fresh and the sauce was very taste well balanced. The dessert were also good. Just had the most incredible meal in a smart but unstuffy restaurant of the freshest seafood imaginable, comprising a starter of delicious sweet clams, followed by sea rice. The quality of the dish of wonderful fresh fish and prawns in a rice broth was beyond our expectations. It was all washed down with a couple of bottles of delicious local Douro white at only €12.50 a pop and ending with a glass of wonderful local tawny port. Our waiter Eugene, was friendly, attentive and informative and a great asset to the restaurant. We are a group of 4 having sailed from Brest across the Bay of Biscay having encountered a force 7 wind with rough seas around Finnistere, and we all agreed we would repeat the experience just to eat in this restaurant again. bangin seafood. me and my friend ordered the sea bass for 2 and it melted in our mouths. crunchy salt flakes and soft olivey olives. large wine menu. my friend said the wine made her a bit sloshed. get to the restaurant early if you want every server to serve food to your plate. the only muscles you need to use are the ones that move food into your mouth. not a fan of the chocolate mousse but all in all excellent food and service, great bang for ur buckaroo....
