Restaurante Adega Oceano — Restaurant in Nazaré

DO NOT EAT HERE!! ! Very dishonest people. Went there on 10/4 with my family, there were 5 of us. When I asked for the check, the waiter gave me a piece of paper torn with a bunch of amounts on a torn up piece of paper which did not add up to the total amount he wrote down. His total came to 149 but it should have been 110. He basically tried to rip us off almost 40 additional euros. I know that this is not the first time they have done this- there are probably plenty of diners who just pay the bill without checking the totals

Secondly, he charged us 19.50 for the bread and appetizer plate we ate. He dropped off 3 appetizer dishes (plate of bread, plate of fried cod fish nuggets and the small trio containers of tuna fish, olives and squid salad). We ate the bread and trio platter and told him we did not like the fried fish.

When I asked him what the 19.50 was for he said the appetizer? We ordered 3 fish plates at 14.50 each and the most expensive entree of veal for 17.50. So how can bread and trio be 19.50?

Freaking scammers! I called out the waiters attention about the 40 difference in totals and he said he apologized and his boss made a mistake. As for the appetizer he said that it what they charge for that?

Does it really make sense that the appetizer costs more than the veal???

Save yourself some grief and euros and go...

i had dinner here last night. service great. it's nice, open until 22:30, most restaurants close at 2200. i just arrived around 1900, into Navére. i googled some late evening options. this was my first time traveling with Google maps, i don't get out much.

i got the tomato salad. it's what it says, slices of tomato and i think onions. they have choice of two olive oils, both good. i had vegetable soup, great. Free bread, they give you a free sardine spread on the side and olives and something else. i passed, I hate olives. the description of the steak and fries said a small portion so i ordered a double. one serving is fine. steak ok, they didn't ask how much to cook it, i usually take it medium rare. comes with an egg on top of the steak, excellent. frittes, fries were hot and good. i ordered dessert take out for this mornings breakfast, small inexpensive desserts. just a super bock, they didn't have super bock black. what i loved about the place were the pictures. my pixel 6 has an awesome zoom,...

Do not accept anything you didn’t order, no matter how casually they offer it. Just like other reviewers warned, they’ll bring out something you never asked for, make it seem complimentary and then sneak it onto your final bill. We were given a so-called “starter set” we explicitly didn’t order and surprise, they charged us 13 euros for it. They also seem to adjust the price based on the number of people. Looks like they just make up the price as they go, since other people’s receipts show slightly different charges for the same thing.

It was our first and last restaurant in Nazaré, as we were just passing through, and now we’re leaving with nothing but this AWFUL experience. Absolutely TRASHY and DISHONEST. Total tourist trap. It’s such a shame because the food was actually great, but the shady way they scam people completely ruins it. Never going back. Avoid...
