We were VERY pleasantly surprised when we sat down on the patio of Maharaja Indian Restaurante. The menu was robust and the pictures were very helpful for figuring out which dish to choose.
We had the chicken samosas which were well seasoned, crispy on the outside with minced chicken on the inside. It came with 3 sauces (mint, mango and something else) all of which we finished.
We, also, had the prawn pakora appetizer and almost ordered a second round but we had more food coming. For the main dishes we order the prawn biryani, mango chicken, daal and garlic Naan.
We were very impressed with the food here. We thought it was a tourist place because it's right off the beach and only English speakers were here but it's a legit place with a chef that cares about flavor and presentation. We'll be back since we live here now and we'll bring our friends. *Navneet was especially welcoming and made sure we enjoyed our meal!! We did and we will again. Definitely check...
Read moreSeriously it was quite possibly the best Indian food my lady and I have ever had. We are from the US and we were just searching for vegan food, which can be hard at times. You usually can’t go wrong with Indian. We ordered the samosas, vegetable curry, and something else. We were quiet and mind blown the whole dinner. It was as if God himself prepared the food and handed it down from the kingdom of heaven! The atmosphere was so very pleasant. The presentation was so fun with each dish over top of a candle to keep it warm. The staff was very grateful for each customer and gave us so much respect. This place rates the tip top of the world in Indian restaurants for us. I’m very serious when I say this. It’s seems magical that we were even blessed to find this place. Well...

The food is also really good. They do an excellent (garlic) naan. About the curries, we loved the lamb madras and prawn vindaloo.
The only improving points would be that the butter chicken was a little too heavy on the tomato and sweetness. It was good, but not the butter chicken gravy you think of.
Atmosphere would be 5/5 if they turned off the spots so the lighting would be more dimmed. Now it is a bit too light, as is in many restaurants in Portugal (for my taste)
Big thanks to the staff...
