This place was a stones throw away from where we were staying in Olhao. It was raining heavily and we wanted some lunch so dropped in. We got a very cold welcome, almost hostile from the lady with dark hair (possibly the owner). Clearly doesn’t like tourists that aren’t French. She literally scoured at us and the kids, whereas French speaking folks got a smile and warm welcome.
There were two dishes on the menu, luckily catered for my wife who had a veg dish (zucchini tart). We were however served by the younger chap, who at least made an effort although the grumpy lady with dark hair told him off for giving us the table he did, she clearly didn’t want us sat in the middle of the restaurant.
Food was ok, not the best and must say it was the worst meal we’ve had in a week in Olhao.
Word of warning, they have board games on one of the tables but our children were told off by the lady in the dark hair and told the board games were only for display? (Really?!?)
The place only takes cash payments too, so ensure you’ve got cash with you. We won’t be returning, really disappointed and it’s a wonder why such places are in the hospitality business when they have zero customer service and don’t seem to like anyone that isn’t French!
Note to grumpy dark haired lady- “it honestly doesn’t cost you anything to smile at customers or at least try and make them feel...
Read moreArrived @ the Real Marina & Spa 3days ago & overheard a client recommending this restaurant to someone else. Most people turn left on leaving the hotel (as we did 2nts) but turn right & literally a 2min walk (same side,on a corner) Chez Henriette is a hidden gem!! Very chic, unusual, sweet French decor, lots seating inside & out. Could not believe the portions you get (2 for 13€!!!!!) & it was DELICIOUS, also, apparently, the menu changes daily. Run by a French family who are SO lovely, ☺️ & accommodating. Honestly, please give it a try,you won't be disappointed, it was our first visit & def not the last. This is our 4th night eating out & this was DEF the best food. Really wish we could give more than 5. Thankyou, Sylvia & David UPDATE * 4.7.25**. Sadly we go home in 2days & will miss this French gem SO much. Honestly, it's not just because it is SO cheap (13€= 2courses), it's because the food is ALWAYS so Fresh & delicious. We have been here now 4times & the food is SO varied & great portions. We will not only miss the food, but also the wonderful French family who put their heart &...
Read moreWent here for dinner. Menu only has 3 starters and 3 mains which we were happy about as we felt with such a small menu the food has to be great. Disappointingly it wasn't. Starter was OK as there was little to be cooked. One of us had foie gras and one had tuna mayo in avocado - avocado was very hard and not nice to eat. Main course was rabbit for my husband which looked really good but it seems that the sauce was just poured over the rabbit and the rabbit had not been cooked in it and so was very white and tasteless. I had an omelette which was so overcooked it was like shoe leather. Wine was good and a reasonable price. Service was sporadic and once more guests arrived we barely saw our server (think its the owner/chefs wife) - definitely need front of house staff instead of trying to do everything themselves. Its a pity about the food as we thought we had...
