Entre Irmãos — Restaurant in Peniche

This was bad in so many ways I don’t even know where to start…When we came we got the appetizer (the bread from the day before, olives, cheese etc.) but we didn’t get the menu😅 So after 10 minutes when we asked, the waiter brought us menus… when we chose from a few foods on the menu (which is not a bad thing) they told us they didn’t have 2 of them, so we were like okay, we’ll choose something else. Confusing thing for us was that to other guests they were showing the fresh fish they had today on the menu, but we were told there was no fish left that day. But that could have been a misunderstanding. After 75 minutes in the restaurant we got to the main course , firstly we got the side dishes (rice, fries and beans) and after 10 minutes they were on the table , the waiter came and told us they were for the other table, not for us, and he simply took them and he straight gave them to other people, not knowing if we touched or ate any of it 😅 Sooo at this point we were just trying to stay positive, hoping that at least the food will be good. But when the steaks finally came, they were gummy and impossible to chew. I really tried, but unfortunately it had to end up in my napkin, so we had to return them. The waiter’s reaction was not very polite at first, he brought the meat back and tried to show us how the meat is actually good, but you know, when 3 people tell you that the meat is not well cooked, there must be something about it…then we asked for the bill, the first one we got was with the steaks included and then, right after, he gave us the other one, saying that he paid for the steaks, which we appreciated of course, the problem was the way he was speaking to us, like we did something bad and he had right to be angry at us 😅 Him not saying goodbye back to us when we were leaving was just a cherry on top of it all. We came here because on TripAdvisor it’s supposedly a number 2 restaurant in Peniche, but that might have been the true some time ago, what we encountered today was far from a good quality restaurant.

I was extremely disappointed with my visit to this restaurant. From the very beginning, things went downhill – no one even brought us the menu, we had to ask for it ourselves. The service was unreasonably slow, despite the restaurant being half-empty. To make matters worse, they mixed up our side dishes and brought us the wrong ones.

The overall service was terrible – waiting for the food took forever. When the food finally arrived, it was of poor quality and tasted awful. On top of that, the steak was prepared incorrectly, completely different from what was ordered.

The environment left much to be desired as well – torn chairs and an overall sense of neglect. To make matters worse, many items on the menu were unavailable. I also witnessed something truly shocking: side dishes that weren’t finished by customers at another table were brought out to other patrons shortly after. I saw this with my own eyes, and our fries even had a piece of salad on them, despite none of our dishes including salad.

This place is nothing but a tourist trap. The shabby appearance and the poor service seem to be aimed at taking advantage of unsuspecting tourists. This experience was very disappointing, and I will definitely not be coming back. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food and quality service. Absolutely fabulous lunch at Entre Irmãos. Mixed starter of tuna samosa, petinhas and fritters were delicious and well prepared. We shared a giant turbot that was grilled to perfection...fresh salad was enough, although it was served with roasted potatoes. We were lucky enough to get a seat near the street and could enjoy the fresh sea air. They have a comfortable inside room as well but the restaurant is small, so reservations are probably a good idea during the peak summer season.
