We were just walking up to another restaurant when we saw the place, liked it, and sat down on the terrace. As it turned out later, we couldn't have been luckier. From the current menu, we ordered bread (oh my God, that bread!) with butter and black garlic, olives and a dish from ray, and from the daily specials, Sado oysters and a small smoked swordfish sandwich. After the first few bites, we began to feel that wonderful sensation that one only feels when eating the best food, let's just call it food ecstasy. After finishing our meal, we felt that we had to try more, so we ordered another prawn skewer with potato salad and a dish called sonhos de abrótea, followed by a pineapple, yogurt sorbet and meringue "wonder" for dessert. Every dish was prepared with the highest quality ingredients, perfect technique, and a clear concept. The espumantes we drank with dinner, the kindness and friendliness of the waitresses, and the automatically filled and continuously refilled water glasses (who wouldn't love such little touches?) made us leave the place crying with happiness. There aren't enough stars to give this place the rating it deserves. Thank you once again for the fantastic hospitality...
Read moreThe restaurant is probably a good one, but they didn't give us a chance to try it. First of all they do not accept reservations. It's a first come first served policy. If you are with a group of more than 4 people you may have a problem because they only have one bigger table. And if you have the misfortune to wait for other customers who are inconsiderate to those waiting, your dinner is compromised. So it was in our case, we waited for an hour and a half (although we were told it would take 30-40 minutes) watching a group who had long finished eating and were chatting in front of empty glasses. Unfortunately the restaurant has no policy for these customers either. We gave up because there was no estimate when the table would be available. Another suggestion from the staff ( can't say the lady wasn't nice) was to come back at 5 pm if we wanted to make sure we caught the table.... Many greetings to the group who saw we were waiting. And good luck with the business. The pictures...
Read moreI usually don’t post reviews but this is one amazing restaurant with absolutely delicious dishes, including white wine from a small local winery. We ate here twice and could have easily eaten here every day. Every dish was prepared individually, nicely presented, and the flavours were outstanding. During our first visit, the sourdough bread came straight out of the oven and the accompanying smoked butter with black garlic is to die for!!! Every dish we ate (grilled octopus, cod with figs, fish skewer with tzatziki, the mussels) have been etched into our memory. My favorite dessert was the passion fruit pavlova….fresh, light and airy with a touch of sweetness. The staff are wonderful….the female server was a sweetheart! We were seated at the booth both times and were never rushed to complete our meal. Our favorite restaurant in all of Portugal so far (that includes, Lisbon and Porto!). We flew to Madeira today and I already miss this restaurant. Michelin star...
