A highlight of visiting Ponta Delgada. Buy the three museum package, it is well worth it. As a Jesuit College, it is unlike most churches you might visit. The ornate woodwork in the chapel is a marvel. The various exhibits in the building are intriguing indeed. The artwork - very compelling & thought provoking. The handheld guided tour is excellent, giving you an in depth tour of the Jesuit College and the various displays. Highly recommended, time well spent.

Very lovely art. This is a very small museum part of a trio of museums which are absolutely worth visiting. There are only five euros for all three but they are all very small. If I had to choose one I would choose the natural history one and then this would be my second. However if you're into really unique things there is a altar alcove in their sanctuary that's entirely carved out of wood. It is quite spectacular.

Incredibly beautiful! We went specifically for the wooden altar in the church part of the museum and it was beyond any expectation. It’s so detailed, so massive, so gorgeous… I’m left speechless :) Really worth a stop! To get in the church, pay 2€ entrance to the museum on the left. Sadly we had a flight to catch and didn’t visit the galleries or the other two sister-museums in the city.

Wandered in on a whim and I'm glad I did because we soon discovered the insanely beautiful and ornate wooden alter that's a total showstopper. Admission is free on Sundays it turns out and the staff were amazingly warm and helpful. They even called us a taxi to our hotel when we were ready to leave. Definitely worth a quick visit.

A very beautiful building from the outside, unfortunately we didn't have time for a more detailed visit.

Visita gratuita.
