We went here for the all-Ireland hurling final recently - wife, 2 kids and elderly father-in-law. We were initially looked after by a lovely young woman from Belfast.
Then had a couple of encounters with an older woman (bar manager/owner) who was super rude and unpleasant to us and her staff.
She irately refused us a reservation in an empty bar, for an elderly man and 2 kids, despite an already reserved table beside us.
Despite this unnecessarily unhelpful and rude exchange, we stayed and had a couple of drinks. We saw her bark demands at her staff, choosing to hide away in the kitchen instead of help or work when it got busy. She gave dirty looks to customers and grumpily pushed past other customers who dared block her way through a, then packed, pub.
The icing on the cake was her forcibly demanding my father-in-law (78) move seats so she could set up the tables for the evening crowd. By this time the place had emptied out after the match and was at least a couple of hours before bars even start getting busy again. She could see he was almost finished his drink. Again it was just unnecessarily unpleasant and rude.
It was a disappointing and uncomfortable experience. The reason you seek out an Irish pub is for the good craic and warm hospitality - that's what they're there for. This was the opposite... Truly an Irish bar by name only.
I would recommend avoiding this place as there are tons of other bars with nice people running them and your holiday is too short to waste in toxic...
Read moreFor a place that shares the name of our national stadium and advertises to show all GAA football and hurling games it certainly doesn't live up to it'd billing..on arriving today to watch the Limerick Clare match we were meet by a small group of English fans watching the 3rd place match of the nations cup between England and Switzerland on the big screen and at least 2 other smaller ones with the sound belting out while the Irish fans of hurling were left with a small screen and no sound and told there would be no sound till the English match was finished..thats the true ethics of an "authentic" irish pub in Praia De Rocha Algarve Portugal that also serves Yorkshire pudding with its Sunday roast dinner..I ask you..if you want to see a true Irish Pub in Praia De Rocha go to Ireland Eye..an absolute genuine Irish Pub...
Read moreFirst time here. The manager greeted us while walking by. He was very cheerful. We were quickly seated. The place was busy as there was a football ⚽ match on the tv. We ordered a couple drinks while decided on what food to order. I had my first jacket potato. I was really excited because I've seen so many on social media (Spudman) I ordered the a beans and cheese. It came quickly, piping hot, heaped with beans and cheese and was delicious. It also came with a side salad and coleslaw. I will admit that the presentation looks a bit off but really, what can you do with beans , cheese and potatoes? It was very tasty and quite filling, just like it's supposed to be. I'm looking forward to the St Patrick's Day celebration. They are offering a free bowl of Irish stew with every...
