Pizza was the craving of the night, and that’s how we stumbled upon Pinseria La Romana—a decision that turned into one of the most delightful surprises of our trip.

The moment we stepped inside, we were welcomed by the irresistible aroma of freshly baked pizza—warm, comforting, and absolutely mouthwatering. It’s the kind of scent that makes you want to order immediately, just so you can dive in as soon as possible.

The chef greeted us personally, enthusiastically explaining the unique pinsaria process and offering his recommendations. By pure coincidence (or maybe fate), the one that had already caught our eye was exactly his top suggestion. And wow—what a choice!

Every dish we tried was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with love and skill. This isn’t just pizza; it’s an experience. The quality is so exceptional that this little spot deserves a permanent place in everyone’s list of go-to comfort food havens in Portimão.

I even shared a tip with the chef on how to make their already fabulous apple and gorgonzola pinsa even more irresistible—because when a place is this good, you can’t help but want to see it shine even brighter.

What a serendipitous find. We visited the mercado of Portimao and then looked for a place to have lunch and walked in here. Its a family run business by William Rodrigues who came here from Brazil a while ago. This was reflected in the daily special which was a very tasty Brazilian fish dish served with rice. We also had the ricotta ravioli which was outstanding and made fresh!!! The soup and creme brulee were also superb. Its a little away fromthe tourist places but very much worth a visit!! We decided to go to this Italian based on the online reviews and it did not disappoint. It was absolutely amazing. On our one week holiday we booked twice and tried for a third time but they close on a Sunday.

It is a lovely wee restaurant with tables inside and out. The staff are so attentive and the head chef will try get round to tables if he can.
