Pizza Nostra — Restaurant in Portimão

I’ve eaten a lot of pizza in my day, from dollar slices on grimy Manhattan corners to the perfectly blistered pies at family joints where the sauce recipe hasn’t changed since Sinatra topped the charts. But outside of New York, it’s rare—painfully rare—to find a slice that earns a respectful nod in Uncle Tony’s direction.

That said, this spot surprised me.

First off, the crust: thin, crisp on the bottom, with just enough chew to pass the fold test. Not quite Tony’s coal-fired magic, but it holds its own—especially when hot out of the oven. The sauce hits the right balance of tang and sweetness, clearly made in-house, though Tony’s version has that elusive zip, like he snuck in a pinch of attitude from Arthur Avenue.

Cheese? Melted beautifully, no oily puddles, and a solid pull when you take a bite. They don’t skimp, but they don’t overdo it either—something Tony always preached: “You gotta respect the ratio.”

Toppings were fresh, though I stuck with classic pepperoni for a fair fight. They curl into little crispy cups just like they should, catching those tiny pools of spicy oil that are practically liquid gold.

Bottom line: this place is the closest I’ve come to replicating Uncle Tony’s slice of heaven outside the five boroughs. It's not exactly the same—Tony’s pizza still has that Bronx-born soul—but for a moment, I closed my eyes, took a bite, and heard a cab honk in the distance. That’s saying something.

Rating: 8.7/10 — Not Uncle Tony’s, but damn close.

They also do a great burger if you're into that! 30 bucks for a medium pie and cheeseburger. Can't argue with that...

I think it is takeaway only. I didn't see a place to eat in. The staff were very nice and chatting while I was waiting. I don't speak Portuguese, but the man taking orders was so helpful and made a special order. Would highly recommend. We got the super size pizza, and it came with garlic bread and drink 28/29euros Food...

Já sou cliente da Pizza Nostra há muitos anos, que sempre primou por um serviço de excelência mas lamento dizer que o serviço de entrega piorou substancialmente nos últimos 2 anos onde agora, uma entrega que demoraria aproximadamente 30 minutos, agora demora uma hora (última entrega hoje no dia 21/09/23 em Portimão foram 59 minutos). Na penúltima entrega, tambem ela tardia, chamei à atenção e jurei para não encomendar novamente...até hoje onde pensei que talvez tenham melhorado mas pelos vistos nada mudou. Telefonei para a loja e como anteriormente, transmiti o meu descontentamento ao qual supostamente tomaram nota. Algo que também achei não habitual foi a pizza estar com cozedura a mais tornando-a muito mais seca! Vamos ver se as coisas melhoram nos próximos meses pois nem tão cedo vou...
