The worst decision we made on our trip was to have some Tapas in Cloque ao Mar.
We ordered 6 different Tapas. -Chicken Wings: you get 2 wings and 1 drum with a slice of lemon and sauce Remoulade(not self made). Why Remoulade? The wings were deep fried. Why tho? The price 4,50€ -Calamari rings: 6 deep fried (convenience product) calamari rings, served with a lemon slice and again Remoulade sauce, the price 5,50€ -Trio of pies(empanadas): 3 empanadas filled with some tuna and bell peppers, the filling was okay. The dough very crumbly tho, again deep fried, but seemed like they were self made The price 7,50€ -Potatoes “Bravas” style: just some fried potato cubes with some sauce, can’t do anything wrong there. The price 5,50€ -Shrimps and vegetables tempura: couldn’t really tell what we were eating, two kind of different “tempuras” by the shrimps. Can’t even call it a Tempura 🤷🏻♀️served with soy sauce, as expected this time deep fried. The price 6,50€ -Garlic bread: a small bread soaked in olive oil and garlic. The price 2,50€ Tomato bruschetta: 4 pieces. The only fresh thing about last night, at least were the tomatoes and onions fresh cut. The price 4,50€
The location ist great, but not even that was worth staying there any longer since we were genuinely sick and I had to throw up as we got to our hotel room. So sorry but this restaurant was a big...
Read moreWe visited as a group of eight and ordered a variety of appetizers to share. While some were decent, the ribs were awful. For the main course, the fish and chips were clearly frozen and straight from a box, although the salmon was quite good. The rest of the dishes were mediocre.
We had an issue when ordering a plain burger with just cheese—it came out with sauces and toppings we didn’t ask for. When we sent it back, they supposedly remade it in under two minutes, but it was obvious they had just scraped off the toppings; the bun still had mustard seeds on it. The child refused to eat it, so we declined the dish.
When the bill came, we asked about the charge for the uneaten burger. The server became extremely defensive, refusing to remove it and arguing that we were wasting food, saying they could have given it to the homeless. We explained that the food wasn’t eaten because it was poorly prepared and tasted terrible, but she remained uncooperative and rude.
The place has a nice view, but the staff are unprofessional and argumentative, and the food is average at best. I recommend finding...
Read moreThe one star goes for the smashing view. Otherwise, the food was disgusting and quite a display of an extremely poor understanding (if any) of the local cuisine. Lulas recheadas (stuffed squid) were stuffed with an unidentified, flavourless, dry meat mass. Five minuscule squid heads with a side of rice and an obnoxious tomato sauce WITH CHEESE (!) set us back almost 20 euros. The fish soup tasted of a burnt pan and was also served with a side of cheese and mayo (!). The pastéis de bacalhau (not even resembling the actual thing) were simply charred and reeked of old oil. When we sent them back, the waiter retorted saying that nobody had ever complained and that we couldn't send it back without even giving them a try (they were literally charred, and I mean it). To top it off, even the bread was stale and crumby, olives completely tasteless (certainly from a supermarket jar), and the wine was so bad we didn't even drink it. I'd say: pop in for a minute to admire the view, and then run away to eat and drink...
