We got a taxi to the restaurant, we were welcomed in and got seats beside the window. We immediately noticed ants crawling on the skirting board but due to the high reviews we decided to proceed without causing a scene. During the meal, a napkin fell under the table from my girlfriend's lap. She intended to pick it up but was afraid to do so because the ants had started crawling on it. We began to rush to finish our food and pay so we can leave immediately without causing a scene. Soon after, my girlfriend was mortified to discover ants crawling around her chest and neck from the floor. We asked to speak to the manager who assured us that this had never happened before and that there is nothing he can do about it because it is caused by the natural environment and location of the restaurant, which we do not believe to be acceptable for a restaurant because they can contaminate the food and spread bacteria. He offered us a refund, but unfortunately after we got home we discovered the refund was for someone else's bill, and we had been given less money than we should have been.
I would like to believe that received the wrong amount is just a mistake, and normally I would privately email the restaurant to resolve the matter but as far as I can tell from google maps there is no telephone number or email address to contact.
As for the food, the taste was good but the seafood was not very fresh. We were quite disappointed in this regard, as we had been recommended to this restaurant by several online reviews and had high hopes.
We have made a complaint to the food health and safety association ASAE in hopes to raise awareness for the restaurant and for us as customers.
In summary, there were pest issues that the manager claimed to have no control over, and we unfortunately the seafood...
Read moreWe recently had dinner at Casa da Rocha and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. We tried to make a reservation by phone but no answer. We decided to walk in earlier in the day and tried to book a table for 5:30 PM, only to be told that the restaurant was booked out from 6 PM onwards and for the next 2 weeks. They suggested to walk in at 5:30pm and chance a table. When we arrived at said time, the place was completely empty, which made the refusal to book us earlier quite perplexing.
Despite the lack of other customers, we were told the only table available was one directly in the sun, making it the hottest spot in the entire restaurant. Given that we were a family of seven, including five kids, this made our meal quite uncomfortable. We had to constantly shuffle seats to keep the kids from getting too hot, but no one from the staff ever checked in or asked if we wanted to move to a cooler spot.
To make matters worse, after taking our order, the staff seemed to disappear. No one came by to see if we needed more drinks, and there was no follow-up to check if the food was okay. We felt completely neglected and had to actively seek out a server whenever we needed anything, despite the fact that the restaurant was practically empty.
Overall, the service at Casa da Rocha was extremely disappointing. The lack of attention and care from the staff ruined what could have been a pleasant dining experience. I hope the management takes these issues seriously and improves their service...
Read moreI would love to say that this place was good, that the food was fabulous, that the service was spectacular. However, upon arrival, we were put at a table for 2, there was 3 of us, the maitre d was welcoming but after he seated us, he seemed to have forgotten about us! The table had a plastic sign informing people that there can be a delay in getting your food as it is cooked fresh to order, which is perfectly acceptable. After sitting and waiting for 30 minutes +, I finally grabbed the attention of the maitre d who told me someone will be with me to take our order..........no one came, even though the staff was plentiful, no one even asked us what we would like to drink. All the while, people entering after us had had their orders taken and were tucking into their starters. We left and while leaving, the maitre d only said sorry to us. The place was not busy and there was plenty of staff, so no, you cannot apologise for such shabby service. Avoid this place and go across the road to the...
