Sweet & Salt — Restaurant in Portimão

We went for breakfast two weeks ago and the service was really bad. First, the server took forever to attend to us and bring over the menu (even though it wasn’t crowded). We had to ask him for the menu because he kept walking past us without attending to us.

We waited even longer for him to come back to us to take the order, and again, I had to ask him before he was about to walk away after attending to the guy next to us.

Next, he even rolled his eyes when he saw that we changed our table before the food arrived, as we were occupying a larger table and saw that a smaller table was available. Again, there were few customers and our table wasn’t even set yet, so the eye roll and annoyance was unnecessary.

When the pancakes did arrive, the Salty pancake had no syrup on (as stated in the menu). When I requested for syrup, he initially wanted to charge extra for the syrup. He then came back with the tiniest cup of syrup and said this is free.

With regards to the pancakes, they were fluffy but so dry without syrup or sauce (we had the salty and the berries pancakes). Didn’t end up finishing.

We eventually started realizing that it was just us who didn’t get table service, because the same waiter was quick to attend to all the other new Portuguese customers.

Compared to our first visit, this second visit was a complete let down. While the service and food wasn’t the best even during our first visit, this waiter completely spoiled our morning with his service. Just skip this place, you won’t...

This place was amazing. I think this is the best restaurant I’ve ever been to, and here’s why: The food was amazing. We had burrata as an appetizer, grilled octopus and truffle risotto as main dishes, snickers cake as dessert with tea. Everything was fresh and perfectly prepared. Portions were generous without being excessive. The cake was either handmade at the restaurant or at a local pastry, but it was evidently prepared the same day. The aesthetic of the restaurant is modern chic, which is one of the first things that stood out to my girlfriend and I and attracted us in. It was a beautiful romantic restaurant for a dinner date, with an open terrace, nice spacious furniture and dimmed lighting. A great live music performance kept us entertained all night, covering old classics from the 70’s to the 90’s. The waiter was very professional and at our service throughout the night. Just as an example, he refilled our glasses of water at least half a dozen times despite the restaurant being completely full.
