The Olive Garden Alvor — Restaurant in Portimão

Very friendly and welcoming reception.

Portions were huge. The starters were great, mains looked amazing, but I had to send Chiken Kebabs back as some chicken was uncooked. The burger for the kids was too dense (lack of fat in the grind) so wasn't appetising. Lamb shank was very good.

With most establishments taking more margin on drinks, it's always a surprise when restaurants don't encourage more drinks. We had to ask twice for a 2nd drink, and they never tried to offer the table anything else.

This was our second visit and having sampled several restaurants around Alvor, I would class this as ok. I cannot fault the pepperpot chicken dish which is beautiful. The chips are beautiful as well. However, we had a fish dish, fillet of seabream, which came out as breaded and full of bones. A bit disappointed with this as it's not advertised as breaded. I can see the lunch menu and tapas are getting rave reviews so maybe this would be the way to go. If you are going out for a fish dish then maybe try elsewhere as it will be fresher but meat...

Great food and the owner Liam is pleasant enough to talk to but I'm only giving this restaurant four stars because the service wasn't the best. Again both Liam and his staff were nice enough but they regularly forgot to come back with the desert menu and forgot our drinks even when the place wasn't that busy.

We had a meal a couple of times here due to the garlic potato cubes! I do recommend getting these as a side if anyone decides to try the restaurant out.
